I just got some information on ancestors in England.  (posted below)  I'm wondering how to get information about births, marriages, and deaths in England.  Also, does anyone know of any good British web sites to do with genealogy?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Jill

Hi Jill.......

Found about 6 marriages for a Frederick and Mary on the LDS site.......go to http://www.familysearch.org/Eng/Search/frameset_search.asp?PAGE=igi/search_IGI.asp and play with the names.  It is unfortunately rather a common one.  I didn't have much luck with the children's names.

But.......as for Canada, our privacy laws prevent you from getting any information that is not 100 years old.  I will poke around in the cemetery pages for the children as I live just outside Toronto.......and I will let you know.

But, one of the fellows on my English List for Cumberland is a Peter Bond and he is also searching for them.......as well as he does have many of them.  I will post your query on the List and hopefully you will get some answers (plus I will email Peter directly).

Good luck........

Could not find anyone in the Ontario Cemetery List except one "Olive"
and no identifying code was given. Middle initial was "F" and it was in
the York (toronto) area.

Can I also suggest that the newsgroup soc.genealogy.britain might be worth
some lurking time. There are some FAQ which are posted on UK census etc
which are well worth a read.

start of copy.........

Thanks Heather for sending this query to me, here is something that
may help.
FREDRICK.W.BOND was born ca.1851 at Great Milton, Oxford,
he was a carpenter by trade.
His wife was called MARY, and she was born ca.1854 at Long Crendon,
Buckingham.
Both Daisy B.Bond and Francis W.Bond were born at Great Milton, Oxford.
I trust this information will suffice.
Kind regards
Peter

Heather,

My email address is jill...@cogeco.ca It just changed about a week ago
because of the financial difficulties excite@home has had. I apologize for
the confusion - I didn't realize that I had to change settings in the news
groups area as well.

I really appreciate the help you are providing!

Jill

Wow! Heather thank you so much for your help - this is great information!
My email address is jill...@cogeco.ca I will contact Peter directly to
give him my correct address and to get any more details from him that he may
have. This is so exciting to be getting leads after finding nothing on the
Bonds for so long.

Thank you again!

Heather,

I am only aware of an Olive Viola BOND at this point. She was born about
1914 in York and died as a baby. It's a shame that the middle initial
doesn't match. Since there is no year though, it could possibly be a
descendant of George or Muriel. Did it list a cemetery? My Aunt thinks
that a lot of our relatives were buried in the Mt. Pleasant cemetery. I
lived a few blocks from there as a teenager and so know that it's an awfully
big cemetery to go wondering around. I was thinking of mailing their office
a letter asking for locations of Bond graves before making a trip to
Toronto.

Thank you again for your help,
Jill
