Does anyone have any suggestions for us?
Thanks,
Linda
Go to File-Open Family File and press the Help button for a complete
step-by-step guide to opening files, including GEDCOM files.
If the file is on a floppy disk, the critical step is when you are asked for
a new file name. At that point you not only give the file a name but also
determine where the file should be placed. You must specify that the file
being created from the GEDCOM file be placed on your hard drive and not back
on the floppy disk.

Tell him to save that as a gedcom file.
Lori
He can't be saving it as gedcom file, he is saving as .ftw or .ftm
All gedcoms are able to be used by all computers genealogy programs.
So make sure he is saving as a gedcom .ged file.

Linda
I had problems the first time that I tried opening a .ged file with FTM. I
never did figure out what I was doing wrong. I now copy the file to a temp
directory, select the file in file open, accept all of the defaults, skip
all of the error messages, it works every time. I hope that this helps.

Thanks everyone for your advice.
