I was told that my gg-grandfather, Giles C. Smith, was buried on Gov. Moore
(Gov of Louisiana during the Civil War) Plantation, (near Alexandria
Louisiana) in the late 1860's or 1870's.

Giles Smith shows in the 1860 census of Alexandria but not in the 1870
census, tho the rest of his family does.

Is there a cemetery on the Plantation or was it just a place to plant him?
He was a Irish Catholic, and since the Plantation is 30-40 miles from
Alexandria where he lived. I'm wondering if maybe he took his own life????
