- To learn more about the RSL, including how to access the full RSL which has
  over a million surnames (these postings are only the NEW or CHANGED names).

- Write directly to the submitter if you would like to exchange information.
  Match the nametag at the end of each surname to the submitters'
  addresses immediately following the list of surnames.

Entries are formatted as follows:
Surname Date1 Date2 Migration Comments & nametag
Date1 is the earliest date for which the submitter has information.
Date2 is the most recent date.  The migration shows where people
of this line lived during the period listed.

Abbreviations used are in a file named family.abbrev that can be
be obtained by sending the command "get family.abbrev" to
ROOTS-L-requ...@rootsweb.com in a message with the subject line

Where are the addresses???  It's come to our attention that a
commercial firm has been regularly sending unsolicited commercial
messages to the addresses we list here, plugging their books.
That's not the reason we were posting the addresses, and we
feel we have no choice but to discontinue doing so.

Great, huh?  So, how =do= you find the submitter?  It's not all that
bad.  To obtain the address info for the submitter whose nametag is
"memay" (just for example), just can call it up via the web at the URL
