Exactly what information are you wanting to obtain from the obit or
what is the focus of your research? Do you have any other information
about the names of this man's wife, or parents, or children?

Charles was married to a woman who died. Then he married my father's
Aunt Myrtle Elma Neal August 31, 1892. Near as I can tell, they either
divorced (1901?) or she died, and he proceeded to marry her sister
Jennie Neal December 6, 1905. They had two children, one of whom I was
friends with until he died a few years ago. He lived in Brooklyn with
both wives, and Jennie lived with the married couple in 1900.

I was hoping that Charles' obit would mention what happened to his
second wife, Myrtle.

there is a March, 1908 obituary for Mrs. Lavina Neal. Among her
survivors are daughters Mrs. Myrtle Kaiser of New York City and Mrs.
Jennie Kaiser of New York City.

Yeah, I actually put that there! SO she didn't die. She may have lived
until the 1910 census at least. I have been trying to get a divorce
record but the runaround is daunting.

Don't be discouraged. It will take 3-4 weeks or even longer to
research this to get results. I promise to get back to you if I find
anything or if I can suggest some other places for you to look to get
the information you seek.

If you are reasonably sure the information you got about this man
living in Atlantic City, NJ is correct, please order a copy of his
death certificate from New Jersey Department of Health/Vital
Statistics for about $4--it will have many valuable clues for further
genealogical research. Also contact the surrogate court/probate court
for that county to see if he has a probate file which will have names/
addresses of heirs/family if the court keeps records back that far
(perhaps on microfilm if the originals would be too decrepit to keep
for filing). I have asked someone in the area to look for an obit but
they have not responded so I guess that information is not available.
You are not likely to resolve this using census records either since
one of the people in the family you were looking for information on
was using another family member's/someone else's name.
