I'm hoping that someone can help me with a member of our family by
marriage.

A distant cousin of mine in Swansea, Wales, married a Canadian chap
named Myles M. McEvoy. I'd be grateful if someone could assist with
finding out when and where he was born, and possibly even details of
his family (via a census, for example).

In the 1901 census for Wales he's stated to be 34 years of age. FWIW,
his occupation is given as a ship's stevedore.

With thanks in advance,

Andrew Gw.

I hadn't realised that they also had a Canadian census on that site.
Rather frustrating that none of the people on it are my chap, though!

Assuming, of course, that there's not been some mysterious change of
name!

It looks like he's the son of Martin and Margaret McEvoy. I've found them in
the Wales census for several years but cannot find them in Canada during the
1859-1865, or so, timeframe that it looks like they were there, at least so
far. I still have a bit more looking to do. The only placename that I
recognize as a birthplace for their kids is Niagara, so that is at least a
starting point. Here is the Ancestry indexes where I found them, or let me
know if you need the images.

Tara, that's fantastic! I'd never considered that his parents would
also have upped sticks to Wales as well. You've now given me a couple
more names to help track him down in Canada. Many thanks.
