An obit for subject person appeared in the 8 August 1877 issue of the
Boston Daily Advertiser, Boston Massachusetts, USA.

I would really would like to see this obit / death notice. James H
Mitchell was a American Civil War Veteran and reportedly committed
suicide via an overdose of opium. Does anyone have access to this
19th century newspaper.

Alex: It is not an obit/death notice--just a news item under heading
Essex County.
"James H. Mitchell, sailmaker, of Newburyport, forty years old,
committed suicide with laudanum on Monday night. Cause - result of
hard drinking."
