I THINK my Baby Doll lotus is considered a tulip....don't know for sure. I
have 6 or 8 lotus and it is my very favorite. Baby Doll is a small lotus, I
have it planted in a dish pan, under only an inch or two of water. It only
gets to be 16 or 18 inches tall. The flowers are pure white and splay out at
the top like a tulip. It out blooms all the other lotus in the pond. I thought
I would be bored with the white color, but quite the opposite....I have so much
color its white is kinda restful. If I lost my other lotus I may or may not
spend the money to replace them, but there will always be a Baby Doll in my
pond. Jerri
This one in my catalog says Tulip Lotus N. nucifera (Shirokunshi) Could it be
the same? This one also has white flowers.
Sandra
Jerri,
Just after I asked this question, I went and grabbed a Lily Blooms catalog,
that I got a couple of weeks ago. I found your Baby Doll and the Tulip Lotus
right next to each other. Now I can't decide which one I want. LOL
Sandra
Jerri,
Can I grow this Baby Doll in a half whiskey barrel or would the barrel be too
big?
Sandra
I would plant it in a smaller pot and raise the level of the pot. Plant a few
other things in it, and I think it would be beautiful maybe a real small lily
and some parrots feather to cascade over the side. Jerri
Jerri,
I have a Helvola that I could put with it. That is a good idea. How big are
the leaves and the flowers. How often do you fert it?
Sandra
