that is very normal in koi Tony.....even a breeder and shower of koi can't tell
what they will finish out to look like .....In Japan they send the good koi to
a clay mud pond to "finish them" Jerri

I had read that they would change colors. I thought it was only in
their youth. I have had conversation with a fishy friend and reread
the book and somehow I had only remembered only a small portion of
what was said on color. You are totaly right Jerri. I only hope he
gets his yellow color back. It seems that they can change several
times over their life before the colors stays. Maybe that is why the
kio from japan look so good. (the big ones). I bet they love the mud.

Is there a color enhancer in their food Tony ??? By the way got the iris
in,,,will advise on color etc....Jerri
There will be some wonderful colors. I don't think they will bloom
this year. They are almost like seedlings. Next year watch out! Yes
the regular food I feed them has color enhancers in it. I have only
been feeding for four days and am just starting to mix a little of the
Romet-B in with the cheerios. They made it through the winter and that
is what is important. I think they will spawn in the nest few days.
The water went from 47° to 65° in four days time. I got the new filter
in place and running just in time. It will take me a while to con
someone into stacking the rock back up.

Well I live in northern KY and my fish stay in the pond year round. I
don't think the heater is a good idea.IMHO I do leave a bubbler in the
pond so it doesn't freeze solid.
