Brigid, i am so sorry, you know, i MEANT to post it here, & didn't! They aren't
advertising the Pontiac one too heavily for soem reason, then there will be the
one at Cobo, too, but we liked the Pontiac one much better. Novi has one, &
there's even one at MCC, in Warren (i think) but it's small. ANYWAY, the
Pontiac one runs today through Sunday, $6.50 for adults :-)
Laurie
Thanks for the info. I went to the one in Novi...not enough garden
stuff.

Brigid >>
I KNOW! There never is :-(. Did you have any idea THAT many window companies
could exist, LOL???

Enjoy the day and please share when you get home! Our garden show in Chicago is
March 17th. Just found out the office manager will be off that week so I may not

That's how I felt about the Chicago flower show the last two years. Lots of vendors
and daffodils. Crystal Palace had a _huge_ water feature, but other than that it was
a bit of a disappointment for such an enormous structure...peace...

Have you lost your tulip petals????? I would _never_ turn a friend loose with our

All the displays "look" nice, but it is hard to find someone to tell you
about it. I find that it is mostly landscaping companies trying to do
it for you. Not that I have any problem with that, honest. I just tend
to do things myself, that way when it goes wrong....like the leak I
have...I have no one to blame but me :) And I find it to be challenging
to try and fix my own problems, and when that dosen't work, then I call

The one place i was most impressed with, that were very helpful & it led me to
one of THE best Garden center's in Michigan, is Joe Randazzo's. They're a bit
of a drive, (24 & Romeo Plank, but hey, Weigands, another wonderful Nursery AND
Pond shop is out there too, not to mention this route passes you by an English
Gardens Nursery/watergarden place AND a Franks :-). Anyway, Joe Randazzo's has
to have the best prices i've ever seen in my life, gallon Hosta's for $2, along
with many other perennials same size/price, they have all sorts of trees,
shrubs, conifer's....on & on, ALL for cheaper than 'in the city'. My personal
thing is weeping tree's, & i got at least a 1/2 price discount for making the
drive. Bought gorgeous land cover roses for $12, 5 gallon containers. I could
go on & on :-)

AWWWW thanks :-)!!! You're one of the 'Pro's', too, you know! Everyone here is,
in their own special way, we all contribute together, & we all can bring to the
table our experiences to share & learn from eachother....{{{Group Hug}}} :-)

Oh, we ALWAYS need 'em :-))
Care to pick the color for my house trim, LOL? I could send you a picture of my
newly painted front door (teehee)
Laurie <--serious!
Thanks for the tip on Randazzos, and with all the stopping and shopping
on the way I will have to make it a day trip and take my husbands pickup
! My hubby wants a weeping cherry for the front yard, I'm not sure
where we would put it but it would be nice.
please do...I just got done with my dining room. Forest green and
yellow quartz(looks like french vanilla ice cream, maybe a little more
yellowish)
Brigid
We'll make it a caravan! Your truck, my Jimmy, Debbie's Wagon, Doreen's
Mini....uh-oh, did that rhyme??? LOL! Weeping Cherry's are lovely, my motto is
buy now-find home for later :-)
Laurie
Sounds good to me. You lead! Only porblem with buy now theory is that
it would probably end up at my moms house, She has a big empty yard.

AAHH!!!! Another decorater under me nose & i didn't know it????? Your Dining
room sounds gorgeous! Mine is also Hunter themed. Hunter green is one of my
favorite colors. My Powder room i did in Purples & our Master suite is Hunter &
Burgundy. I'm working on the rest of the rooms :-)). In our Kitchen we laid
Verde Gris (Hunter green marble) countertops. Ok! I'm going to zip you off a
pic of my house color now, & the new front door color....& you give me your
ideas! Thanks! I gotta to run to the Bank, but will be back in about 1/2 an
hour...can hardly wait to see what you come up with :-)
Can you send me pic's of your decorating? I'd love to trade them with you! My
best ideas come about from other people's masterpieces :-)
Laurie, with an equiring nosy mind :-)
First as always I will have to find the pics. We put new windows in
too. I will email them to you.
Yes, please do that! I sent you mine...hope they got there ok? I'll dig up more
when i get back here :-). Did you get the other picture files from me ok this

We set a snowfountain cherry in our front *lawn* (Adge joke) two seasons ago and it
grew like mad! The gal across the street said she actually enjoyed standing at her
kitchen sink doing dishes cuz she could enjoy it as well. Kinda made me feel good to
know it made someone happy ;^) The limbs are already touching the ground. I'm
wondering if I should prune it back or leave it be? peace...debbie

She loves Mums and we are slowly but surely filling in the space between
the driveway and the neighbors fence with them. My dad tried to weed
one year,,,,and tore all of them up. So we started over. She also has
some daisys, and Hostas. She needs a good ground cover. Any ideas. It
gets sun in the am and till about 1pm then it is mostly shade.

Ok! Now we're cookin' here ;^) Mums are good. Will she mind pinching them
back tho? Let's keep Daddy out of the picture for the moment <S> Good soul
he is! Since we both share a shade thingie a quick fix could be ivy as a
ground cover. Then there are some sedum's that are nice too! Some adventures
souls would try a moss (not my particular favorite at the moment....) Anymore
ideas out there folks? Oh this is fun! And, it stops me from whining too much

I was actually thinking of a creeping flox. It probably dosent get
enough sun though. I have them by the pond. I will check out the
sedums too. It's on a slope so i don't think it is wet enough for
moss. I will get a picture of her bearded iris this summer. Beautifull
blue.
I even talked her into a fountain.....Hmmmm I may have to get one of
those fancy digital cameras I've been reading about here.!
Now we are cookin'! 'Ey, warned y'all before. If I can't sleep..._no_ one does <g>
Creeping phlox are beautiful! There's a house a few blocks away that I absolutely
drool over every Spring!!!! (please don't tell the homeowner!) I'm thinking about
adding it in the wild flower garden but I understand that once the heat hits they
bolt and become rather ugly (can drool over the house but can't get close enough to
lurk a close-up!). Care to share a thought on how yours do? peace....
ps. When ya can, goooo for the digital! They are Grrrrrrrrrrrrreat!!!!!!
hmmm, I can't remember, where do you live? It must be semi warm all the
time. When I get stuck in the house I get bored and look out....here
comes the paint, varnish whatever...
Brigid
Mine are quite lovely....This year maybe not though I just dug them and
seperated them last fall...we shall see. They only get the am sun till
about 2:00 But they are next to my driveway which is blacktop so they
get a lot of radiant heat which they seem to like. They don't seem to
mind being manhandled...very tough plant. I have the purple one.
Brigid/Mi

I had it in my last garden. It stays low after it's done doing it's thing, so
even though it's not pretty, it's unobtrusive. It DOES spread tho'. so be
prepared to chop the edges now and then... I planted it on my neglected slope
here and it hasn't caught on near as well - I'll be moving it closer this
spring.

Hey!!! Moss is a GOOD thingy :-)). especially where you absolutel cannot grow
grass, & you want 'green'. Or over the rocks on the pond, sigghhh.....

Well, the place I have in mind, the mower would not be accessible to. It's a wild
flower garden. But, that doesn't mean I can't crawl thru the flowers and attack
'em with me shears :) :) :) :)

These serious thoughts are going to ruin me yet 8-) I think we should consider
starting up a plant exchange. This is silly to have stuff growing all over that
could be shared. Please let me know if you're interested and I'll do some
homework on shipping etc. And, if anyone is interested. I found the missing
angel trumpet seeds and they really do need a good home. These pups sell for

Well, it goes like this...beige is this very neutral color <LMAO> I'm sorry. I
just can't help myself 8-}There's not a lot to tell Lo. The casa is at best 1,800
sq ft. The entire back of our home is glass with vaulted ceilings and a step-down
dining room. The kitchen is mostly stainless. My pride is my 48" Viking 6 burner,
double over, grill!! The hood will suck your hair up!! <g> Ah Ha! Now I
understand why they wear chef's hats <LOL> peace..

dont forget to wear your camouflage ....so they don't see you coming ;)
Not if you have enough windows!! Natural light does wonders to make a

window. I painted it Hunter Green...still looks open.

Well, we are going to have to digest these thoughts for a while. The entire
back of the
house is glass looking over the *lawn*. Kinda sorta like a panorama of nature
at it's best
;^) but, the idea of hunter green in here makes me wonder if Bambi will
approach and
become Sunday supper 8-} We gotta work on me, huh???? 8-} peace...
Iwas concerned when I painted several walls
Hunter Green, as well. But by the time furniture & bookcases, pictures hung
etc. they just faded into the background. Makes me wish I'd chosen the Chinese
Red I had fallen in love with, after all :(

Here's brave for ya' - I painted my bedroom "Wardance" red, then ragged over
that with a dark red/brown called Hickory. Ragged the top couple feet with a
light stone color over off-white, then stencilled up there. All this in a room
with beige carpet! It's awesome - looks like leather. I figured if I didn't
like it I could paint over it. So GLAD I didn't spill any of that paint! :)

amount of money I've spent in my life on wallpaper that has to be removed!

Please give me a holler when your ready Toni, but I have to forewarn you, the
entire plant is poisonous. You would be amazed at how large one plant gets! It's
recommended that you grow them as a container plant. My Granny and Mom never did
and neither did I. This is a great way to recycle! peace....

Yepper it is! Yeah, those pod looking thingies are seeds. I had a ton last year
that I gave to my cousin for her garden club. Some of the pods dried and stayed in
tact while others dropped as soon as they were ripe. Guess it depends on the lily?
Ahdunno.
Oh we're doin' ok here, thanks. Bill ran the snow blower so that we wouldn't have
to go out. Wasn't that sweet?
Took a couple of quick shots out back earlier today. I'll post 'em in a few ;^)
...peace...debbie

Guess we never stop learning huh? Got an email from someone who is still
in lurk mode after a bad experience from posting. We'll continue to
encourage these folks to take their time and post when comfortable
{{{friends}}}. They are concerned that we are fussing with each other 8-)
I apologized for my dry humor and informed them I would use more smily
faces in the future :) :) :) :) peace....debbie <---- who believes
everyone has the assertive right to defend themselves under unwarranted
attacks...but wouldn't know how to have a good fight if her life depended
one it! :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :) :)))))))))))))))))))))))))))

Hi Deb & Everybody :-)
I'd like to jump in here too, & say that i guess when you get to know someone,
you feel more comfortable teasing them & we forget that there are people that
don't know US, & certainly don't know that we know eachother well. This board
here was created (by Debbie-& support from the rest of us ;-) to be sort of a
safe place from the flames, etc. That's not to say a drive by flamer won't stop
by from time to time, but we have rules on this board about common
courtesy/etc. (see http://www.cs.pdx.edu/~laurie/newsgroup.html) Most of us
here have been treated badly on one board or another, hence, this board where
we don't have to worry :-). I take very seriously anyone who's intent is to be
mean. And i welcome with open arms all the people who choose to take part
here...we need you, each & every one of you :-)
Laurie
Why thanks Lo! That was very nicely put. It's unfortunate that so many people have
been left with a bitter taste, but hopefully they will see that reasonable people
can differ without it becoming heated, or worse yet, ugly ;^) peace...debbie

Yeah. We've got to try to realize that we can share info & even have different
way's or ideas about thing's, but live & let live. Share but realize no one way
is "the right" way. Sometimes, you have to learn from trial & error, you know?
That's why i like the Mission Statement that we've created together, it spells
it all out pretty nicely :-)

Absolutely! Oh I wish you could hear the story I was told by an employee of a pond
company! It was a hoot! She said one of her customers uses a coffee can (oooold
family secrete that they refuse to give up) as a filtering system in their well
stocked, very seasoned pond. Can you imagine a coffee can? But, it works for
them! ;^) peace...
