Hi all, there are some games I would like to check out before I buy.
I`ve seen the larger chains like WhereHouse or Blockbuster and they got all
the Playstation/Nintendo titles but does anyone know any places( large or
small) that have P.C. game rentals? Thanks!

I'm surprised your server isn't webtv. Did you just crawl out from under a
rock? You can't rent PC games, the closest you will get is a demo. And if you
check, you can't plug your n64 controller into the pc either, sorry to
disappoint you. Actually I'm not... you are just pathetic, I can't believe
anyone would think that you could "rent" pc games.... hehehe... I mean really?
What planet are you from? Did you even think that through before you typed
it? Or are you 12, if you are 12 we can forgive you..but you have to eat your
motherboard first.

Its not that absurd, back in my old 386 day I used to rent computer games
from the local software store. Most software places wont let you rent
nowadays, but if they have a liberal exchange policy you can buy and bring
back till you find the one you want. Also several comic shop may have
computer that you can buy time on and the play a game you were curious
about. Honestly, are all editors assholes.

Well, that must be an american thing then. Because it's illegal in canada.
Why would a company consent to renting something out, when it would take about
2 minutes to make a copy of that game once you got it home? And it's not likes
it hard either, alot of people have burners or it would take about a 2 minute
trip to alt.warez to find the no-cd hack for any given game. Any place that
would willingly "rent games" (or as it should be called, charging for copy) is
just asking for a lawsuit from the game company themselves.

serioously, what a dick.

i'm sure there are places in alhambra or arcadia, monterrey park area. instead
of renting, you might be able to find pirate stores (yes, they are there.) i'm
not sure of the exact location though. i know there is a place in hacienda
heights. i can't remember the name of it right now. but, if you take the 60,
exit fullerton, head south. make a right on colima. after a couple of lights,
you'll see this place on the left hand side called hong kong super market, or
something or another like that. the store i'm talking about isn't in that
market area, but one next to it. if you're looking at the market, it's in a
small shopping area to the left of the hong kong super market. if i ever
remember the name, i'll let you know. those directions should be pretty
correct, but i know the location is definitely on colima, in the hsopping area
next to hong kong super market. hope that helps.

what a dick.

Hey, give the kid a break. I also once thought about renting PC games, but I
couldn't find any place that would. You bring up the issue of burning, well, why
would PS let people rent thier games? I have PS and I have a burner and a mod chip.
I burn games. And....... what are you trying o prove? Stupid Canadian. eh?

I don't think it was ever legal here in the US, and I believe that the
stores doing it were threatened with law suits if they didn't stop it.

I havent seen any stores that rent games any more, not since the early
90ies, but the original message was a guy asking how to find full versions
of games so he could try before he bought. Demos are the best option, but
there are other ways of getting full versions to try before you actualy
purchase them. Buying time on a Cyber Cafes or Comic Shops machines is a
great legal way to try full versions of current software in all there buggy
glory.

Way to go. I too remember a store where I could rent out software for a
tenth of the product cost and return it in 3 days or so. One thing I've
always disliked about the newsgroups is people like Matthew Cross.
Rather than shutting the fuck up they insist on insulting people. BTW if
you read the license agreement renting and returning the software is
perfectly legal, provided you remove it from your system. That is why
there are use agreements, when you give away or sell the software you
are supposed to remove it from your system. People LIKE Matthew are the
biggest hypocrites when it comes to the use agreeements. I'm sure he
purchased two operating systems and two copies of every game he plays on
his home network. (NOT) I could really give a shit because about
software piracy, bring it on!

For your information there isn't a pirated piece of software on my system, and I
don't even have a home network. I've purchased over 40 pieces of software for
this pc, utility game whatever and everyone was paid for. I even bothered to
register stuff I get off the net. Go ahead bring your software piracy on,
because when you get caught, I hope you enjoy the fines.

I just read an article which said that Blockbuster is going to rent
computer games in some of their stores to test the market. It said that
they already have agreements with some of the game publishers. I wonder
if extra copy protection will be added to these games.

No-one gets caught pirating software on their home computer onless it's
thousands of pounds/dollars worth. Companies don't bother.

Has anyone got "the Lost Vikings" in it's original packing for the PC. It's
a 1993 game made by interplay. I've got it on CD but want it on disk. Maybe
someone could rent it out and forget to bring it back!!

No-one? That's kind of a strong word considering I know someone who did get
caught, and he was only pirating for his own personal reason. It takes one call
to the police or crimestoppers on a slow night. I think he will have his fines
paid off by 2050... And you might say "well anyone who calls is an asshole"
well, all it takes is for you to piss someone off, they get mad, pick up the
phone, your grandchildren are debt up to their nuts. Hope you enjoy

A dickhead? Why, because I don't support your illegal endeavors? If you enjoy
worrying about whether or not you've pissed someone off enough for them to make a
call, hey go for it.
