Subject: DOOM II - what do I get next that'll match it?

I got utterly addicted to Doom II a couple of years ago (mostly playing
alone) but I no longer have it on my PC.  Now I want to get another
(similar) game for myself for Xmas.  What do you suggest? Being a
wrinkley, I've no idea what's on the market at the moment and I'm
looking for something as exciting as Doom II but also as simple too if
possible.  What has taken over?

Quake has been the king for a long time now, but now other Quake Clones
are entering the market (like Quake2). If you've got a good enough
system, try Quake or Quake2. If you've got a 486, try Duke Nukem 3d.

Ummm...since when is a sequel a clone??? Anyway, Quake 2 shouldn't even
have the Quake name. It is on a whole new TRUE 3D engine.
