I am lucky to have gotten a Saitek Evo Joystick with USB-plug a few
days ago. Mostly I planned on using it in Battlefield Desert Combat
Final, but then I thought of the good old days when I played X-Wing
and was tired in school the other day.
But I do not recall how to activate the joystick.
Like I intended, it works fine in Battlefield with an Apache or Hind
but X-Wing ignores every motion of it.
Is X-Wing limited to gameport-based joysticks?
Does anyone know of a workaround that makes X-Wing think my
USB-joystick is a gameport device?
Thanks in advance
Lukas
I use a Saitek Cyborg 3D Gold USB stick all the time with X-Wing, no
problem.
You can use the Saitek software to map the extra buttons too. I even got the
POV hat working.

I tried that but the spacecraft navigates far too slowly. I have a
Logitech Wingman Attack (2 axes, 4 buttons, throttle) with gameport
plug here. It could be mine for little money but only if it works with
X-Wing.
How should I tell the game to use the stick?
Pressing j, J, Ctrl+j, Alt+j, etc. had no effect, install.exe does not
seem to offer a choice of inputs.
The joystick itself is working in WinXP's calibration utility.
Thanks in advance
