Haha! That could've been me :-)
I had no idea where I were, I had no idea what I was doing, I run
into horde bases and ?? elites, I generally had no clue what was
going on. And it felt gooooooood :-)

And I was very surprised - no crashes, almost no lag, even though
there were gazillions of people everywhere I was able to do all
quests I attempted quite quickly. And there was no ganking. I
mean... nothing at all. Everyone was minding his own business,
it seems like PvP just stopped existing. Someone said they're
probably just doing quests until they have better gear to gank
you, guess that's true.

I already replaced both my crossbow (level 56 blue) and my
polearm (ice barbed spear with +25 agi), as well as my chest
piece (ogre forged hauberk). And I made 192k XP in about 3.5
hours o.O

I like the setting of hellfire penninsula. It's not one of my
favorite zones, but it ain't bad. Zangarmarsh is a lot more
beautiful, and Terrokar.... wow. I mean: WOW. And Shattrath...
WOW. Ok, I can't find anything there, and there's no auction
house, and the inn isn't flagged as an inn, and it seems to
be larger than a full zone, but... IT JUST LOOKS SO DAMN
COOL.

I also have to say that the quests seem a bit more interesting
to me. Maybe that's because of the novelty, though :-)

I already levelled first aid to about 340, engineering to 305
(5 more skill points to come once the mail from my banker alt
provides me with 50 more thorium bars to make repair bots).
Didn't level cooking at all (didn't find the trainer), same
for fishing. The only mining nodes I found were either well
protected (by some named 62 elite) or completely out of reach
(Khorium, requires 375 mining).

Can't wait to get home today :-)

We're about to go to the ramparts with guildmates:
_moonkin: I need a bank, where can I find that?
_feral: I'd like to repair as well
_me: well sure, let's meet in thrallmar we'll travel to shattrath
_ok

it took one hour to get there, they were looking around in awe, when I
mentioned Cenarion Exp reputation rewards both druids wanted to see
them, etc. When we arrived near Shattrath I said: "okay I'll leave the
group and let you discover the place - just go up the hill, you can't
miss it" to secretely hear them on TS go "omg that's beautiful" and so
on, do the visit, wonder about things and stuff, about the factions,
the elevators, smile when they meet their first few draeneis... I
secretely went into my brother's party to help him out with similar
directions to the city - he was lost - and stopped for a while to watch
my /tell, /party, /guild channels fill up with questions and try to
unstack them :)

Then we were ready to go - I asked during the flight whether they
wanted to go do the prequests for the instance or instance right away,
they said okay for the prequest... and I lead them into Reavers' fall
and the "bombing" quest chain ;)

_warlock: that's incredible I want to do that again!
_me: cheers, it's repeatable now!
_all together: EXCELLENT!

...

Showing the place as if I were a guide for tourists, not telling
everything, just helping out on the annoying stuff and let the real TBC
content take my friends/guildmates by surprise, hell yeah it feels good
inside!
Much better than powerlevelling ;)

I found out I can pretty much instance whenever I want :)

Just send a whisper and poof, I have a very high end party - we
destroyed the Blood Furnace in about 40 minutes, I got my first blue
item that I can't equip yet (level 61 req), and it happens to be the
holy nuking mace :D

So, last night I installed TBC.

I'm back to how I used to be pre level 60.

Wandering along slowly doing quests, not finding where I need to go,
what I have to do, not understanding the instructions...

Being virtually geographically challenged transforms quests into a lot
of boring and frustrating running around when I'm on my own, and I have
never really quested with my guild before, so I haven't yet got questing
habits with them.

From 6 to nearly 9 our server chain stopped (the world server is
stopped, the world server is stopped etc etc etc for an hour or two)

Took me over 30 minutes to take the first flight from the portal to
Thrallmore, I kept getting chucked and finding myself back at the
beginning of the flight path.

Anyway, after that we tried to do the first mini instance, and the
server calmed down, we got going (4 frost mages and a tank). I didn't
have any quests, so I'll be going back. We got to a boss or two (easy,
it helps being in a T2 &T3 gear...) before getting kicked from the
server, and we never managed to get back in, we'd get stuck on the
loading screen and refind outself outside.

I bought all the tailoring patterns (cost me half my gold)

So we went questing, I completed the first quests from Thrallmore, the
canon towers, two bombing missions...

I'm about half way to level 61, one quest reward is interesting, but not
quit better, than my T1 pants - I'm sure I'll soon find something to
replace them quickly.

My friend list was chock full of connected people, and at time I had the
feeling that the peninsula was filled by my guild and friend list only^^.

Hubbies paladine is now level 12 (or maybe 13, I noticed on leaving this
morning that he'd been playing this morning whilst I was still sleeping)

I'll see how it goes tonight, but I'm going to have to find questing
buddies that are going ahead at my pace, otherwise I'm going to be slow.

Should be ok, I know who I ran across the most last night, and even if
it means I won't se those of my guildies that dinged 62 or 63 last
night, I'm sure I'll catch up.

So mixed bag - I miss Naxxx though :-(

Funny, I was about to ask some of these questions inhere :)

I'd like to find a bank and trainers for herbalism, alchemy and engineering.
You know where they are?

Lower City, look up one of those birdies in their hanging houses
Herbalism = in Thrallmar/Honor Hold I think
Engineering = in Thrallmar/Honor Hold - in Thrallmar the trainer is a
goblin near a catapult, about halfway between the stables and the
blacksmith. There's also an engineer quest giver near Zabra'jin in
Zangarmarsh, and another engineer trainer in Netherstorm (but you'll
see that later). Dunno about honor hold, alliance filth!

Hope it helps!

In Honor Hold if you're alliance. Definitely true for engineering and alchemy.
If you're horde, it's most likely the likewise (honor hold is the first base in
hellfire where you're sent to once you're through the portal). I guess that's
Thrallmar.

First aid is also in Honor Hold/Thrallmar. No idea about leatherworking,
but I'd be surprised if it isn't there.

I can honestly say that I don't. Sure, the novelty factor will wear off,
but I love that there is so much to do and challenge me as a healer (well,
balance spec (for levelling) healing gives a bit more challenge too ^^) in
the new smaller instances right now. I wouldn't go back to Patchwerk if you
paid me! I just feel so much more involved, instead of being just one drop
in an ocean of healspammers who can't leave their PC for five hours ;)

I wasn't about to argue, merely expressing my experience/opinion ^^

Don't get me wrong, I love raiding too, I love being part of the bigger
thing. I just hadn't realised how utterly tired I was of my class being a
complete bore at endgame 60 :\

As a mage (I assume you are a mage from your postings), your gear gets
better, and your impact gets more significant - you see bigger numbers, and
it matters. You climb the damage meters, the boss dies quicker. Consider a
class where bigger numbers stops meaning anything - bigger numbers means
overhealing and actually can be used AGAINST you as a measure of
inefficiency. Consider playing when there is no challenge left... your mana
is infinite, and you heal too much for the group, even at high-end Naxx
content. There's nothing left to learn or do and upgrades don't improve you
as much as the DPSers and tanks around you as they get ridiculously excited
over some shiny new item...

That's what the famous "Priest Burnout" is about. Getting the boss down is
a rush, it always is. But I just feel like a robot doing it on my druid! I
really enjoyed fights like Thaddius though which required me to actually
*do* something......well... until the point where I got thoroughly fed up
with it because my internet wouldn't hold out :-( Right idea Blizz, just
these novel things not wipe us if someone DCs!

So a new five-man and I'm under assault from two warlock pets, "Silenced!" I
call out on Vent, and see my tank's health dropping down. I'm the only one
who can do anything about it so I hammer away at my quickest heal in an
effort to get it off ASAP, then! A rogue sneaks out of nowhere and crits me,
poisons me and I yelp for my feral friend to save me from assault so that I
can get back to keeping the others up. A bomb explodes under our feet and
suddenly we're all half health whilst still dealing with a group.

Yay! I've been doing all the quests without consulting thottbot and
stumbling around, and I really enjoy it. It's like I was on my first

I would strongly suggest you mostly solo through level 60, just to get the
hang of where stuff is. If you quest in groups too much, you'll be
wandering all over the place and getting shared quests that you haven't
learned the location for yet. I had several quests that I had in completed
state for hours because I couldn't find my way back! A lot of places aren't
marked on the map.

>I'm about half way to level 61, one quest reward is interesting, but not

At 61, I've replaced my last two ZG epics (the neckpiece and the hero
charm) with a green and a blue, and also my Nemesis (tier 2) belt with a
green. Half my wands (I have one for each school) have been replaced too.

>So mixed bag - I miss Naxxx though :-(

I miss getting 40 people together to all do something, but nobody is ever
going to do Molten Core, BWL, or AQ40 for gear ever again. Maybe that's a
good thing, since you'll just go to do a few quests and have fun, and stop
going once you get tired of it, instead of doing 30 runs total to get your
full set.

Not that I don't love my tier 2 set - I've been tearing the living crap out
of Hellfire Peninsula. I haven't found a non-instance quest yet that
would have been impossible to solo, though I've done a lot in groups
because soloing gets boring. *

It is amazing how many people just seem too stupid to read the quest
descriptions, and go on to ask a blindingly obvious question when what
they need to know is already there for them. The first 50 times
aren't too bad, but..

Yeah I'm trying to stay a zone ahead of the majority of people now as
general chat is driving me insane. Guild chat is bad enough but at least
the vast majority of them only ask on things that aren't so easy!

Another thing that amazes me is how many people refuse to use
coordinates... it's rather annoying going to the trouble of finding the
location to a place that's very hard to describe, giving it, and getting "I
don't use coords" back, without even a thankyou for the effort.

Some say the most 'efficient' way of levelling is to instance your heart
out - no quests. Get max rep from killing trash in instances until you no
longer gain rep from killing trash, lots of gold. Ding 70 and you have all
these hundreds of quests to do for rep and only cash.

I say, 'efficiency' isn't any 'fun' :P It really is taking things to the
extreme - sapping the fun aspect (IMO) out in order to get the most profit
in the long run.

We hashed this out some months ago, and decided that quest + grind is the
fastest leveling strategy. But the hell with that for BC - I'm doing
everything, and also leveling a draenei shaman so I can see their home
territory (it's really cool, kind of reminds you of a cross between halo
and a toxic waste remediation site).

>longer gain rep from killing trash, lots of gold. Ding 70 and you have all

I wonder if you even get more cash for doing them at 70. Since they all
give gold, I'm thinking you're better off doing them when you're supposed
to. Plus some of the reward items are fantastic, for minimal effort. The
bombing run line for example - I would have done that for NO experience or
gold. *
