Thanks for the heads-up. Launched my favorite torrent downloader and
it's coming in smoothly.

WoW is saying that it will download the patch when you exit... but I'm
getting a run-time error whenever it tries.
It doesn't bode well if the patch downloader is buggy...

Hm, it downloaded smoothly in about 20 minutes here. All 450 MB of it. I
love uTorrent!

(I kept the torrent open afterwards ;-) )

Same here. I only shut it down once the ratio reaches 1.0. I don't see any
data uploading right now though. I see several Blizzard clients and one
uTorrent peer in my peer list.

It's just an artwork preload, no patch install. *

How I wish...

All I keep getting two days on is still:

Microsoft Visual C++ Runtime Library
Runtime Error!

Program: C:\World of Warcraft\BackgroundDownloader.exe

This application has requested the Runtime to terminate it in an
unusual way.
Please contact the application's support team for more information.

Oh well, time to scour the old XP for bugs and oddities.. and maybe
see about that BackgroundDownloader program.

The downloader wouldn't launch, and didn't seem to know that it didn't
launch on my system . This is what worked for me, per one of the posters on
the Technical Help forum (but back up your files, first. I forgot to, in my
frustration.):

"As per the above, I also have this problem (in that my proxy shows it
trying to get the 3.2.2 torrent,
and manually running it says 'no, no patch yet').

However, I have a 'fix': delete the background downloader exe from the wow
directory, and run
repair. Then, manually run the downloader - and watch as the 3.3 patch
starts downloading.

Do not subsequently run the launcher until the patch has finished, as it
will redownload the
bugged downloader. Go figure."

I, too, am running Win XP, which seems to be the common denominator for
people who aren't getting the patch.

I am running Windows XP and had no problem whatsoever. As soon as I read
here that the background download has started I manually started the
downloader and it get the whole 450megs or so in a couple of hours.

Do you usually start wow via the launcher?

That makes it late december or perhaps january for 3.3 :)

No, normally I start wow.exe directly and my downloader is not set to
autostart. That's why I wrote "I manually started the downloader"

Though MMO doubts it, since everything is ready for the first phase of
the patch.

And since its the launcher which downloads a faulty
backgrounddownloader, that may be why you didn't have a problem.

I'm too tired to extrapolate.
