OK. Got to lvl 60, went to Thrallmar in Outland and upgraded my riding
skill, bought a new mount.

Should this one allow me to fly? How does it work?

just keep hitting space (or the jump key) until you're up there :-)

Yeh. The upgrade to the riding skill was cheaper than had been
suggested so I just about had enough.

The price was lowered with one of the last patches.

We'd already mentioned that, I assume they're referring to rep discount
instead.

Yep. Think it was a rep discount.

Cool. I can fly around now.
Certainly makes it easier to rack up XP and explore new areas. Also,
no hassle avoiding fights on the way to somewhere else...

Does the flying mount work in old world too?

No. The item has a tooltip that says "Works in Outlands and Northrend
only."

What a TON of XP you get discovering all the places you can discover in
Outland & Northrend! You don't just uncover the map for the achievements
and XP, you discover EVERYwhere (have to get the minor places too) and
gain at least 3 levels with very little effort and quite quickly.

If it's XP that matters, don't wait until lvl 80 to discover all of
Outlands and Northrend.

It's not just the flying, it's that normal mounts are 250 speed now - I
doubt I would have bothered getting an epic flyer if it was always like
that!

What *really* feels like cheating to me, now that my druid has broken 60,
is flight form. Instant mounting from shadowmeld is pretty insanely
overpowered. That doesn't stop me from using it at every opportunity and
laughing out loud, though. *

Epic flight gives an extra 130% speed, so it is still worthwhile for
many people.

Oh, I'm not arguing that, and I have it on my main, but I don't think I'm
ever going to bother getting it for any alts, because normal flight is fast
enough now. *
