I sent my hunter to Lower BRS to get the achievement. Happy to say
that I now know the exact layout of that place. However that place
that Valaen is hiding out is pur idiocy. I can't beleive that I was
lucky enough to figure out how to get ot him. I thought the area to
climb to him was a dead end.

Anyway on the way in I ended up in a room with an orb and ended up
with a quest to get some brand from Dracklisth (sp). In Lower BRS I
could see the quest turn in spot but there was no way to get to it
that I could see.

My understanding is that UBRS can now be accessed without a key. I
took the Seal of Ascension quest anyway and have to go to see
Embersttrife. Just doign that to experience the old school turning in
of the quest. But since UBRS is suppsoed to be accessible I was
expecting to be able to get into it but I could not find my way in. I
looked all around the instance entrance both inside and outside the
instance but both ways it was a no go so I have to be missing
something.Probably some wall that is not a wall and if I walk into it
then I end up in UBRS. Who the hell knows? I don't know. I need some
help from the old timers.

Of course I already offed the three bosses and here I am with a quest
to off them. The place is quick and eaxy to run through with an 80
hutner so I might return but I do want to get into the UBRS place. Can
i get in solo? Isn't that where the Leroy achievment is?

LBRS and UBRS are just different areas of the same instance.

When you zone in and go up the little ramp into the first room with the
orcs, there are two ways you can go. LBRS is to the right, UBRS is to the
left.

I didn't see two ways to go. I'll ahve to recheck this

Even on the way out when I left the room that houses the orcs and
proceeded down the ramp to the portal I stopped and looked both ways.

Didn't see anything.

Will check again

Thanks

The way to UBRS, on the left, may appear to be a dead end when you first
zone in. If you go and stand next to it for a second it should open up.

Oh...

Well in that case...

Sort of sounds like that "Probably some wall that is not a wall and if
I walk into it then I end up in UBRS." that I mentioned in the first
post.

Figures...

Don't feel bad. I still get lost in there too and can't find it.

I believe there's also an orb outside the entrance for getting to BWL.

Here's my map of the start of the instance, which will hopefully make
things a bit more clear (you'll need a fixed-width font to view this
properly).

You need to pass through a door (previously unlocked by the Seal Of
Ascension quest key) to get into UBRS, but there is no door for LBRS.

To get through the door, you must clear all the mobs in the room. Once
all the mobs are dead, the door will unlock.

Turns out that I had to go in and kill all the orcs in those rooms.
That opened the door.

I had to go to WoWWiki to find this out.

I did get the attunement for BWL by defeating Drahktchish (sp?) but no
way am I going in that place by myself. That place is a 40 manner.

Classic...

Having run both parts of BRS over several sessions with friends some
time ago, I missed out on the final gem for the seal, and have had the
quest plus other bits cluttering up my log and bank ever since. Less
than 4 hours ago I decided to try to solo the last gem, finish the
quest and clear my log and bank - which took me a couple of hours. And
now, less than 90 minutes later, I read the above...

(Let's be honest. I didn't need to finish it, even without the change.
That character plays once a week with the same group, and we already
had a seal between us. Plus it was fun - I'd probably have tried it
sooner or later anyway. But I'm still finding the coincidence
amusing.)

Cheers - Ian

40-man raid at level 60, and challenging... but probably a 5-man raid
now.

I'd like to see Blizzard "resurrect" this instance somehow, with a level
80 version and new quests, perhaps a story line to point you there. I
thought it was one of the coolest parts of the game.

It was 5-mannable in Naxx-level gear so for geared up people probably
3-4 could do it, for all I know less might but not sure about the boss
mechanics; I've only ever been in there once so don't really know the
details well. I'd bet the dispell spamming required for Chromaggus
would require a couple of dispellers at least? Or just a prot paladin,
I guess... :-P

Would be cool, I've only seen it once and doing it 5-man at 80 was
pretty fun, but would be great to have it be meaningful again.

I went there some time ago with 4 guildies, all 80, but the second boss,
the red dragon Vael, wiped us. He has some ability that will kill someone
whatever you do, even a paladin bubble wont save you. We were unable to
kill him before everybody was dead.

I had a feeling that might be the problem with trying particularly
small groups - when I went with a 5-man group I think only 2 survived,
too.
