Anythign here I shoudl start off with right away? Such as anything
that requires multiple visits to NPCs to get buffs and such and hope
for something to end up in a bag of holiday goodies?

Stay away from Alterac and the Greench unless it is 5 AM and the
server is still asleep or at work in the other hemisphere?

Stay away from enemy cities unless the rest of the realm is in bed?

Go grab the holiday suit piece drop from a dungeon boss ASAP?

Do Ogrilla bombing as a team? Load up on festive morph dust so i have
plenty for Ogrilla?

Advice is welcome. I'm sure even more besides myself would benefit
from any.

Eggs for the egg nog. Best place to farm for those is Eversong
woods. The dragonhawks there have a 100% drop rate, in fact some of
them drop 2 at a time.

Egg nog is one of the recipes that one has to "cook"?

Okay, will send my hunter up there to farm all that are needed for the
family toons. Thanks

I'm assuming you mean to get the Merrymaker achievement. If not, then
disregard everything I write from here on :)

Go /kiss winter revelers in the inns. They will give you snowflakes for "Let
it snow", Mistletoe for "Bros. before ho ho ho's" or holly for
"Fa-la-la-la-la-Ogri'la". The bombing quest itself is trivial so you'll
probably only need one, although more of them is not a bad thing. Flying
reindeer are fun :)

The "Bros" are a bit scattered (there's a list here) so it'll require a
little travelling, but that's all.

"Let it snow" will require you to find certain race/class combinations, so
your best bet here is to sit around in Dalaran and look at everyone going
past you. Or have a friend create some chars to help you out.

> Stay away from Alterac and the Greench unless it is 5 AM and the

Probably a good idea. During peak hours you'll find his corpse more often
than not.

> Stay away from enemy cities unless the rest of the realm is in bed?

Don't we always?

> Go grab the holiday suit piece drop from a dungeon boss ASAP?

Yes, the winter hat for the three piece winter suit is only available form
dungeons. I'm not sure if it's all dungeon bosses who drop them, but
comments on Wowhead only mention Mage-Lord Urom in the Occulus and Grand
Magus Telestra in the Nexus. I got mine from Telestra last year, so she
should be a safe bet (unless they decidedto change something, so it's
probably far from a safe bet :P ). They should drop from both normal and
heroic dungeons (again, according to comments on Wowhead).

The other two pieces are crafted (tailoring and leatherworking IIRC) and the
cake you get in a gift of some sort.

> Do Ogrilla bombing as a team? Load up on festive morph dust so i have

See above.

> Advice is welcome. I'm sure even more besides myself would benefit

The achievement "With a little helper from my friends" can be a bit annoying
if you, like me, despise doing pvp. You need to be transformed to a winter
gnome by a zapper-cage-thingy in/outside main cities. Then you go do some
pvp and get 50 kills. The thing is if you die, you lose your winter gnome
disguise so you have to get out of the BG and get transformed again. But
then you have deserter debuff so you'll have to wait a bit. Unless of course
you're an ace pvp player who can just go get them all in one go :)

There are more achievement than I have mentioned here, but the rest are
quite trivial so they shouldn't present any problems.

And as Nemesis and Insane Ranter mentioned, you can start farming eggs
already. You don't need very many, but they sell for insane amounts of money
on AH. The Nelf starting place is not a bad place to farm them.

Hope this helps.

Anybody that was short of 325 at Pilgrim time is now at least 325 or
close enough to 325 that it will nto be a problem.

I thought of that when there was a thread on this last month.

If I am fool enough to get shot down I expect that I will have to re-
cast the holly on my mount.

That is a tricky place for bombing.

Well at least most of them are in Stormwind. It will make for relaxing
time for the others in Deoslace and one other place I forget where.

Yeah that could be tricky. But at least a dwarf rogue is not a
requirement.

IIRC someone in my guild sent me the hat last year. If the
recollection is correct then I jsut have to transmit it around between
the family toons.

And it is so easy to die in WG. I think this one will require a lto of
monitoring and I should put this one as a high priority up front.

Along with the Greench at 5 AM.

We have 11 family toons that I am playing the achiever for. Make that
13 if I also throw in my two sons DKs. They are at the bottom of the
list though. So I will need enough eggs for 11-13 cooking jobs.

What kind of eggs are they anyway?

Thanks for reminding me. For Alliance, it's the owlkin east of Auberdine.
Not that incredibly high a drop rate, more like 2 eggs in 3 kills, but
still very easy to farm.

Or the Rocs in Tanaris. Or the Buzzards in Redridge. Basically any bird will

It is the only one I'm missing and I should be able to get that done. I
suggest you go to the BG with the long narrow north-south valley (is it AB
or AV), I got my HKs pretty easily with the GNERD buff there. Of course, if
you died you just needed a few more sweets to eat, so dying might be a bit
more of a hassle but still, it should be more a matter of patience than
luck.

Ouch, that will mean a lot of BG visits :) IIRC you need 5 eggs each.

Just [Small Eggs] IIRC.

Rocs drop GIANT eggs, not usable for the eggnog recipe. It needs to be a
low level bird. Common targets are the buzzards (also the ones in
westfall), and owls in the night elf starter zone. *

Note that since Telestra is the first boss and it doesn't require heroic,
you can just reset the instance and farm it if you can find five people
willing to do it. It takes less than 10 minutes to get her down, usually.

As for me, I did it all last year, so I can just sip egg nog and enjoy the
fireside. :)

Actually, that's a good Horde spot too. Just fly to Zoram Strand and
ride North. Or, for fun, fly to Bloodvenom Post and parachute off the
cliffs into Darkshore.

That's where I usually go. You never run out of owlkin. The spawn rate
of birds seems to be kinda slow.

OTOH, Giant Eggs sell well year-round, as they're needed for a cooking
quest in Gadgetzan at skill 225. (It used to be required to bump one's
skill cap to 300, but now it just awards a new cooking recipe.)

You're right. Rocs were good for the 225 skill cooking quest. I

That's not needed as you only need to be on Reindeer when you turn in
the quest. You can do it on normal flying mount and morph into
reindeer just before turning the quest in. According to some comments
the cannons don't knock you off from the mount now, didn't try it yet
though.

They don't, apparently. I was doing the achievement last night, saw a friend
doing the quest as well after I had finished the bombing itself so stopped
to /wave at him, and got hit by a cannon. To my surprise, all that happened
was the damage, no getting knocked off the mount. I don't know if it was

turn in) or if it's changed for everyone, but...

you toss a snowball at your own faction leader. A bb gun toy would be

I'd like to know if you get it just for opening a present on Xmas Day,
or if there is a chain of prerequisites required.

I got the meta last year, so I've just been letting this one slide.
I'd like to get the achievement though. If I have to run through the

Nobody knows. What is definitely known is that snowballs don't work. I can
confirm that. There is a rumor that a Ball Bearing Gun was datamined from
the client, but no confirmation.

As far as I can tell, the winterveil quests haven't changed. The Greench is
in the same place doing the same old thing, and Metzen can be found in the
same two zones. It's unlikely that you'll have to complete the quests
again, but they're all quick and easy so it might be a good idea to do
them.

The funniest comment I saw about this achievement is someone saying that
you have to kill and skin the faction leaders. Pelt, get it? *

Not sure if it was already mentioned (sorry, didn't read the whole thread),
but for this achievement you only have to have your mount transformed when
*handing in* the quest. Remember it has to be a flying mount, though.

Took 2 x AB for me (with 44 kills in the first one). Then again, I'm a
rogue, so it might have been easier for me to preserve my costume -- the
more so because I was focused on the achievement and not on winning the

I joint AV because I got a lot of HK without being killed for GNERD. I
joined a battle in progress, got 17 HK out of the 50 needed, joined two more
and got 2 HK each before losing to the horde (they must have really gotten
the "win in 6 minutes" achievment both times :)

I then queued up for the new patch 3.2 BG (Isle of Conquest?) and that was
great. I grabbed a cannon on top of the alliance fortress and shot away at
horde attacking the fortress. I easily got the remaining 30 HKs without any
danger of every loosing my costume.

Much less painful than I expected.

I didn't even think about WG counting, too :)

But I was actually out fighting, not hiding in a turret or camping in my
fort ;-P Come to think of it, I think most of the 50 hks for the achievement
came with us taking and holding Sunken Temple from the alliance's repeated
failed attempts to take it back :D

Just go to AV and hang around with the largest group. WG is nice when
you're on attack (I got my first 15 HKs there), but pretty terrible on
defense. Since the group tends to stick together in AV, you will get a lot
of proximity HKs - it took only two AVs to get the achievement. In a place
like AB or Warsong, it's quite possible to get killed straight off without
ever getting a single HK, and lose the gnome suit.

Also, it's freaking hilarious to see an entire raid of 40 scantily-dressed
gnomes mounting up for AV. *

My WG match with 133 HKs and no deaths was us on defense. In fact, I almost
ALWAYS get a lot more kills when we're on defense.

Really has to do with server makeup though-Horde almost ALWAYS has WG on my
server, and if you hit a WG in peak hours(say 7 pm or so), we steamroll
Alliance..like, to the point where the last 6-8 minutes of the match
consists of u us holding 6 workshops and camping their GY, killing their
NPCs and anyone who dares to leave the "rez invulnerable" zone. We can have
2 or 3 groups hitting towers, and STILL keep them locked down and unable to
mount any sort of resistance. But, Horde players are aggressive on my
server, even when we're on defense, the vast majority of the group will be
outside the fort killing people, capping workshops, or destroying towers.

I agree. WG works good on defense for the gnome kills. I can even
double box and carry one of my son's toons on the inside sitting on a
gun if need be to cover the place if someone breaks through. Two times
I got the entire 50 kills. I still have some do get for three family
toons and a two more of mine.

But the light at the end of the tunnel on this part of it does not
appear to be as bad as I envisioned it.
