Pimp My Ride for a 10-year-old? LOL
I'd say Kameo, Viva Pinata (not Party Animals, the original), TMNT,
The Simpsons Game (if he likes The Simpsons), Lego Star Wars...can't
think of any others right now off the top of my head...
Viva Pinata (my 9 year old loved it)
PGR (Project Gotham Racing) 3
Transformers: The Game
Burnout: Revenge
Ace Combat 6: Fires of Liberation
Guitar Hero (II or III, III just came out and will probably make him
very happy)
-or-
Rock Band (this will be coming out later, go to a gamestop and you can
preorder it)
I would also suggest XBox Live Arcade point cards. These are
essentially gift cards he can use to purchase games on-line that will
auto-download into his new XBox, this is a service he will probably
want to check out right away....
Possibly TMNT, Spider-man Friend or Foe, and Lego Star Wars.

Err I think you've missed his joke.
I recognise at least 3 of these as the worst 360 games out. Stay away from
anything on that list.

Maybe if you told us a little bit about what your grandson likes we could narrow
it down a bit more?
Like ten year olds have any taste anyway.
Hmmm... that's a tough call. The best Xbox 360 games are outside his
age range.
If he can handle a long game with lots of reading I'd suggest Blue
Dragon. It's a role playing game with a good story and age appropriate
characters.
If the console is online you could download Geometry Wars. If it's not
online you can get a game called Xbox Live Unplugged which includes
the full version of that game.
Others have mentioned Kameo, that's a good choice and should be had at
a decent price since it's almost 2 years old.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance is a super-hero punch-em-up. Lego Star Wars
is good, but they're doing a "Complete" special edition in a few weeks
that might be worth waiting for.
I'd advise against any licensed game, the Surf's Up, Open Season,
Ratatouille, (insert popular animated movie here). At 10, he's
probably OK with them, but the quality on those games is generally
really, really low.

I find there's a night and day difference, graphically, between the
Playstation 2 and the Xbox 360.
Here's an example:
Standard PS2 game:

Standard Xbox 360 Game:

But here's the thing... Unless you have a wide-screen high definition
TV set you probably won't see any difference. The games are only going
to look as good as the screen you have them hooked up to allow.

Well, the fact that the PS2 image shows a game with cheap geometry and
jaggies out of the ass, I'd say you can tell a big difference, if even on
the same kind of non-HD TV.
