Any suggestions on a good arcade style joystick for XBox 360? I grew
up with arcade games in the 70's and 80's with the joystick on the
right side and buttons on the left side. Seems that most everything
today has it reversed. Anyone know of a good XBox 360 controller that
does this AND is pretty sturdy that you'd recommend?

Thanks!

The last joystick I can remember with the button on the left was the
Atari 2600. Once arcade games started using a stick with buttons on
the right and left all the home controllers followed suit. Then when
fighters started using a 6 button arrangement they all shifted to the
right.

The only Xbox joysticks I've seen are the branded fighting sticks
(Soul Calibur IV, Street Fighter IV, etc.) and this contraption:

Which looks pretty unwieldy.

Take it from me, the Madcatz Arcade Gamestick is a massive POS.
I made the mistake of buying that for 14.99 at a Gamecrazy new.
The thing is as flimsy as can be, the spinner can't be used with
the games it was designed for (I tried it with Tempest and it
wouldn't work), the stick is too loose and flimsy, the buttons
are awkward, and to top it off, the 3 cards for free XBLA games
were expired. I even tried to trade it back to them, but
they wouldn't accept it back (can't really blame them).

Anyone considering buying this thing, take my advice: DON'T.

Get the Tekken 6 special edition - you get the arcade stick and Tekken 6.

IMO the best stick for a guy that grew up gaming in the arcades is the
Hori Arcade Pro SE EX!
http://www.amazon.com/Xbox-360-Real-Arcade-Pro-EX-SE/dp/B002FKYPU4/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1262886802&sr=8-3
I have used them all and it's the best one you can but unless you know
someone, or you yourself have the skills to build one, using HAPPS
parts.

Don't skimp and get a lower quality Hori or Madcatz. Either pick up a
Hori SE EX or a Madcatz TE! Also you can mod them to your liking using
sites like http://www.lizardlickamusements.com/

I remember seeing one somewhere you can customize yourself from
graphics to the layout of buttons. I wonder if those are any good?

I'll try to find the link again
