GC 2006: Assassin's Creed Demo Sneaking Out
Will PS3 owners get a chance to steal a look at Ubisoft's action game?
August 24, 2006 - Our interest was piqued by reports at 1UP.comof an
unnamed Ubisoft Montreal Developer who said that upcoming PlayStation 3
exclusive Assassin's Creed will have a demo before it hits stores. IGN
contacted UbiSoft representative who was able to confirm that they do
intend to release a demo for the game before the scheduled March 2007
release.
Assassin's Creed is an action-adventure title set in the Holy Land
during the Third Crusade. Some would describe it as part Prince of
Persia and part Splinter Cell, which isn't surprising since it is being
developed by the studio that gave life to those series. This hot new IP
has been rumored to be straying to Xbox 360 and PC as well, but so far
remains true and faithful to PS3. Sony has previously stated that PS3
will provide downloadable content and online services will be free.

Someone better tell the editor of OPM:

"But for the first year at least, there are very few big titles that
are PS3 exclusive. GTA4 and Assassins will be available for the 360 at
the same time. "

Is this news? Game gets demo "shocker"? Also, very interesting wording
regarding online. "DLC" and "online services" free. What exactly does
that mean? Does this mean, extra levels, picture packs etc. are actually
free? Or are they available at a cost but you wont need a subscription
online account to access them? Why have Sony refused to come out and say
that online multiplayer will be free for games?
Remember: the XBox 360 has "Achievements" -- Sony's ripoff system has
"ENTITLEMENTS". lol
> Remember: the XBox 360 has "Achievements" -- Sony's ripoff system has

I think whoever came up with that one didn't learn English as their
primary language.
If I wanted to rip off Microsoft I would have called them
"Accomplishments".

Wait, that wasn't a joke? They really are calling it "Entitlements"?!!
I just thought Jonah was being funny, as if PS3 owners were "entitled"
to their achievments or something.
If that's seriously the name, the Sony is even further out of touch
than I imagined!!

Keep in mind this is from the same company that calls wireless multiplayer
"Ad Hoc Mode" and online play "Infrastructure Mode."
Or is it the other way around? I can never keep them straight.

That's almost a better name than Achievements!

Um, Sony didn't invent those names. Those are industry networking terms.

Um, it's a pretty common practice for companies to assign more intuitive
names to their products and services so that consumers can figure out what
the hell they are without having to consult a dictionary. That's why it's
"Xbox Live" instead of "Peer-to-Peer Game Matching Service And Servers
Storing Assets For Client Download Accessible By Users Of Microsoft Branded
Video Game Console." Doesn't roll off the tongue quite as well, does it?
Whoever thought calling online multiplayer "Infrastructure Mode" was a good
idea had a degree in engineering, not marketing.
It's amazing that Sony even came up with the name "PlayStation", though they
do still feel the need to refer to it as a "computer entertainment system."
Is the company run by literal-minded robots?

Like, did you even read the text at the links that you provide? Did
you happen to notice how they happen to differ substantially from what
Sony refers to as 'ad hoc' and 'infrastructure'? Just curious.

I think Zach's point was that Sony reversed the traditional meanings of
the words in PSP world.

No where in that article was a UbiSoft executive quoted as saying the
game is a PS3 exclusive.
Why must you constantly lie?
I don't have a PSP but looking at their faq the terms seem correct to
me. Ad-hoc is connecting PSPs directly with each other. Infrastructure
goes through an access point like when connecting to the internet.

Or else I'm really confused...

Why must a dog lick its balls? Because it can, and it makes the dog feel
good.
Don't worry, when Assassin's Creed comes out on the 360, Bliggy will pretend
he's never even heard of the game, never mind that he ever believed it would
be a PS3 exclusive.

Yes, that is how Sony defines each. My point is, why not call them "wireless
multiplayer" and "online multiplayer" or something similar? Ad-Hoc and
Infrastructure means absolutely nothing to most people. Sony has a history
of thinking up terrible, unintuitive names for their products and
technologies -- or in this case, using existing unintuitive names.

You've never dealt with networking (even home networking) before, have you?

Sony didn't "think up" those names. they're industry standard terms.

Can I yell MOVIE in a crowded firehouse?
Yep, they're "Entitlements". Yep, Sony's out of touch. Remember, they
said people would buy the PS3 even if it didn't have ANY games at
launch.
English is not their first language.
LOL, what does that have to do with anything? They are a mega-
corporation that spends millions of dollars for marketing, you would
think they could get the translations right.
Oh, you actually have to ask that?
Because he's BLIG MERK!
You know how you can tell he's lying?
He says something.
Is he actually the Perkoff person?
They both deny it, but they are also both perpetual liars.
