Damn, and there's still a year to go. The Xbox has a bright future.
Oh yeah, the rumour is Microsoft will showcase the Xbox on 10/26.
That's right folks, taking a page out of Sony's book!!! You gotta love
it!

EA would be crazy not to support xbox

nothing new, nintendo is releasing zelda that day also. everyone
releases details about their "new" system when a competitor launches.
At XBOX's launch, may be DC2 will make an announcement, so will you wait for
it then?
Don't be silly, N64 and DC are powerful than PS, but the result is obviously
that PS defeat them.
If you think XBOX is a good console, I won't say no but its future is not as
bright as you thought.
The market won't be able to accept four consoles at the same time according
to the market research.
So after PS2 and DC's launch, the market space is much more smaller than
before.
XBOX and Gamecube which launch at the same time have to fight each other to
gain the remaining market space.
If you have a similar thought about buying a DC now instead of buy an
upcoming console PS2 because of the well extablished game library of DC
right now, you will sure have the same thought to both DC and PS2 in the
next year when GC and XBOX launch at that time.
Besides fighting with the existing consoles DC and PS2's well established
game library and network attraction, XBOX has to fight with GC's mario
series, Zelda series and Pocket'mon series in the next year for the
remianing survival space in market. It's the most worst situation that any
console has never deal with.
However, it's not end. XBOX has to fight against PC as well.
It's a silly way to make a kiss cousin relationship between a non-growing
system to a high growth rate system.
As we know, consoles hardware will be never grow up but PC is the system
that it grows every second.
In XBOX, nearly all developers are from PC games developers, will they
forget the PC market when PC is growing so fast nowaday?
Don't be misled by MS that console market is a good place to earn money, but
in fact the TV game market is the most competitive market that PC games
developers ve never thought about. There are many strong enemies in TV game
market, the PC game developers are just like making a beautiful dream for
making a high profit here. But soon, the dream will break automatically when
they find the real TV game market is look like.
After their dream is finished, they will all go back to PC market especially
when PC is many many times powerful than XBOX in the foreseeable future. You
can never emulate a PS2 system in PC because PS2's embebbed VRAM is running
in 48GB/sec and it will be never overcome by an emulator on PC. But if we
have to emulate a XBOX game on PC, it's extremely easy...
Intel CPU or Nvidia NV2A or Nvidia MCP are all the PC components now or the
PC components in the future. All the software codes and hardware instruction
are from PC, what a studpid way to make a console which is a kissing cousin
with a high growth rate PC? Not only the emulator problem, the developers
will fall in love with PC market again after their dreams are broken, and
which is the main problem of XBOX.
Try to imagine the future, when we brought our new PC, will we buy a XBOX
when we can play all its games on our PC either by emulator or the real PC
version of the games? We will buy PS2 DC or GC but it's unlikely to buy a
XBOX which we can emulate it or play its game in our PC.
If we can buy a PC for works and emulate XBOX, I don't see any remaining
attraction of XBOX. A console is supposed to live for 5 to 6 years, what a
silly way to make a close or even exactly the same structure as a high
growth rate system? You will soon see what's the impact from PC is
drastically hit on XBOX's future. It's so poor but we can't dely the fact of
PC's incredible growth rate.
Even Nvidia itself has said, the company will release a series of new GPU
chips in the future and the chips will support Intel's new standard, 8XAGP.
XBOX is a machine derviated from PC, and they are all static processing in
nature. So we seldom see an action game in PC but we saw many high res SLG
in PC. Because PC is designed for paper work but not a dynamic processing
device. Take a look of Arctech's article, you will know more, and also the
reason why PS2 is the only true revolutionary system amoung the next
generation consoles.
XBOX is only applying PC's hardware concept and make a minor change that
VRAM is removed in the structure, but no more.
Nothing special or exciting idea about its hardware design, NOTHING. If you
think XBOX is a revolutionary system, then you better buy a next generation
PC in the future, because they are far more revolutionary according to your
thoery.
XBOX has to fight against 4 enemies simutaneously, its future isn't as
bright as you think.
PS or SNES won in the past even some powerful consoles had released because
they have a large Japanese support in both softwares and buyers base.
XBOX has 160 developers, but it's only a small quantity when comparing with
300 developers of 3DO. And even later, 3DO had claimed to have over 700 3rd
companies. But what's the result? It disappear quickly within 2 years.
XBOX is similar to 3DO that they are mainly based on US developers, and they
are all from PC market. For some multi-platform Japanese companies, they
will develop for every consoles in the market. But only the exclusive
softwares can push a console to be a winner. Sega, Nintendo or Sony has
their own killer apps, but it's difficult to find one in MS so far.
