"James Camerons Avatar: The Game" (Amazon.com:
http://tr.im/Avat1 ) is like an aspiring model who will
never make it on a big-time runway. It is extremely
easy on the eyes and is certainly well put-together,
but it is also thoroughly vapid, wholly generic in its
sensibility and utterly devoid of any emotional or
intellectual engagement.

And so, as with gorgeous and boring people, how long
you can put up with its complete absence of personality
and simply revel in its sensory splendor is entirely up
to you...

I made it through 3/4ths of the movie before I wanted it to be over.

Sure it was pretty to look at, but it was a complete void as far as
the characters, situations and dialog went.

Cameron should have used some of the money he spent on special effects
to pay for a decent screenwriter.

I got an OMG email from a friend of mine about that after he heard it
on the trailer. I just shook my head at the inanity.

And that wasn't the biggest head shaker in the movie. How convenient
that they can transfer minds between bodies. What possible use would
that have for a people who believe the body should be returned to the
earth (as stated during the brief burial scene)?

Wasnt there already a while ago a movie called "Battle for Terra"
that has a similar storyline?

It's a Trope... technology vs. the Noble Savage. Might as well call it
time honored now...

With all the negative remarks I've heard and read about the movie from
genre fans, I expected it to get thrashed by the critics but it has an
83% overall rating and a 94% top critics rating at RottenTomatoes.com.

I still won't see it in the theater but now I'm at least willing to
rent it next year.

This would be the only movie I would want to see on IMAX in its full
3-d glory.

The story is probably pretty meh..but I'd like to see the technology
created just for this movie.

Did you see the "Dances With Smurfs" episode of South Park? I think
that probably sums the plot up pretty nicely. :-)

Best episode of South Park in a long time!

"What!?! You can't take someone else's story, make a few changes to it,
and then sell the movie rights!"

LOL.

Basically there's no reason to go see the movie except for the special
effects.

It's not broken. It's...advanced.

We made it worth our money by sneaking into 2 other movies in the
theatre.

I think we spent like 8 hours at the theatre , we paid for avatar and
watched that sherlock holmes movie , very good btw and that movie 9 ,
nice to see penelope cruz half naked .
