Today I made a very lazy list of what I considered to be bad things in Call
of Duty 4... especially when compared to Battlefield 2. I am not saying
Battlefield 2 is perfect. I am not saying Call of Duty 4 is bad or anything
like that.
All I am saying these points are worth consider looking at and improving for
a next version of COD.

Call of Duty 4 Multiplayer is nice and all but there are some things wrong
with it here is a list:
1. Weaping switching is wrong.
Pressing 2 or 3 multiple times switches between different weapons, this is
bad when panicking for example.
When out of machine gun ammunition pressing 2 multiple times should simply
switch to pistol only and not back and forth.
Actually when I first played the game I liked the rocket launcher smoke
effect and then it becomes far worse... 3 weapons, with 2 keys, that can't
go right ;)
This is the biggest mistake in Call of Duty 4, so I started with that first,
now the rest of the points are in no particular order.
2. Bullit trails are for newbs.
Pistols don't leave smoke trails. The smoke trails "lines in the sky" are
for newbs and old-school shooters like Return To Castle Wolfenstein.
In Battlefield 2 it can be quite fun to see enemies be confused, and snipers
hiding in the grass for a long time ;)
3. The maps are too small.
I can't even scratch my balls without immediatly getting shot so to speak.
This makes playing the sniper unit less fun.
4. No driveable vehicles.
No heli, no blackhack, etc. Flying can be fun in Battlefield 2 ;)
5. Can't create class while playing.
Must wait till end of round which kinda sucks.
6. Leveling to general was way too easy.
7. No stategic gameplay like capturing flags, or commander.
8. No squad based cooperating like given meds, ammo, or holding flags
together etc.
9. Bad granade launcher impact.
Sometimes granade launcher doesn't impact which is kinda lame and stupid.
10. Bad granade handling.
Granades immediatly throw when pressing 4 or 5... that's kinda stupid as
well.
I would first like to see which granade I am holding in case I pressed the
wrong key.
I made so many granade fuck-up's in this game it's insane.
Again this is because the game deviates from what all other games use.
Deviating from the standard is bad.
11. CPU-Controlled Heli screws the game badly.
CPU-Controlled Heli gets for annoying and boring and is completely
pointless, it just fucks the game and fucks the players unneccessarily.
Getting shot like that sucks bad and player must simply re-walk to where he
was... pointless.
12. Calling in too many heli's all the time, and same goes for airstrikes.
At least in Battlefield 2 the artillery had a reload time preventing
constant artillery bombardges.
Airstrikes on such a small map ? Bit over the top ?
13. Heli's and Airstrikes even on building maps ? Kinda
unrealistic/weird/stupid/boring.
14. Can't see if friendly fire is on or off in the server info.
15. Can't see my health ?
16. Can't see what other weapons players are using ? or which class they are
playing ?
17. No weapon names ?
When shooting somebody it only shows an icon of the weapon... which is nice
but it would be good to show the weapon name as well so people learn the
weapon names.
18. Rocket launcher is pretty imprecise pretty crazy...
19. Flash bangs are very annoying.
20. Can't move at normal speed during flash bang ? Pretty stupid really...
21. Can't fire when reloading shotgun ?
The reloading should just stop and fire for god's sake ! ;)
But noooo.. the animation just continues with loading the shotgun until all
bullits loaded... pretty bad.
This makes it necessary to dance around enemy opponent while I could have
shot him ages ago really.
Also results in unnecessary deaths.
22. Often can't prone at all kinds of locations... pretty stupid.
I don't care what you do... for all I care you wrap your body around it...
23. Even little edges make the player stuck and can't go over it or passed
it.
24. Many wallhackers and cheaters in this game ?!?
Try to encrypt the graphics libraries or so.
25 The bandoline... when you die you drop a nade is pretty lame and
stupid...
Let the player do that himself if he can... auto-drop nades on death is
simply super lame and stupid and boring.
Get some skill will ya... just getting kills for dieing is lame.
It just slows down the game unnecessarily... I already shot you and killed
you...
why I need to wait for your auto-drop nade which required no skill from you
?
Seems like it forces the server to be in friendly fire off... otherwise
massive teamkillings !

26. After each level team has to be re-chosen so that teams are mixed up,
this leads to no team building.
27. No direction indicator on radar... have to wait until enemy moves...

...and that's what annoys me about BF2. I like just being infantry.

Agreed. I play on my clan's server which mixes up the playing styles
between each round. Kits I use for Search and Destroy differ to those
I use in HQ... and then I would have a different kit depending if I
was offensive and defensive. More slots to create more kits, please!

Meh. Unlocking shit is tiresome anyway. Do away with the levelling and
give me the ability to use whatever weaps and addons I want.

Never used them in BF2, but Domination is cap the flag.

Domination. But I also play hardcore. Get hit by a bullet or two and
you're dead anyway. While I used to play as Support (? been that long
since I played BF2) how much ammo can you carry to give out, anyway?

It has to arm first. That's the point. Has to travel a certain
distance otherwise you'd just blow yourself up.

Mapped to my middle mouse button and you can cook it as long as you
want... to the point it'll go off and kill you.

You're dead, does it matter what weapon killed you? Can normally tell
by killcam anyway.

Check again. I've been able to but then I don't use
the shotty that much.

When playing shooters after milliseconds counts.
Every destraction means certain death.
I can't look at the keys, because then I will loose track of the enemy and
the necessary dancing and then I will die in an intense shootout/dance :) !
So how do I know for sure if I pressed key 2 <- the pistol key ?
I can't know for sure all the time...
Sometimes my fingers might be on different keys.
So a really good solution is something like Battlefield 2 uses:
I can press multiple keys... but no matter which key I pressed the following
happens:
Case 1: Machine gun is current and is empty. If machine gun key is pressed
nothing happens which is good, then I know I pressed the wrong key.
So then I try the next/other key.
Case 2: Machine gun is current and is empty. If pistol key pressed then
switching to pistol... I can even press multiple times... but it will just
switch to pistol anyway no matter what !
This is very good handling in Battlefield 2.

I think the granade launcher granades doesn't explode when it
bounces/reflects of surfaces.
I think it needs to be shot in such a way so it doesn't skip of the water so
to speak.
It needs an impact point.

Actually it kills enemy when I hit their body, so that's usually not the
problem.
The problem is when the fucking nade skips off the surface :(
I want a splash damage/explosion to kill of the enemy for imprecise kills ;)

The kill-drop-nade thing was started to get a bit boring and lame ;)
So the kill-drop-nade thing could cause massive teamkills so I wanted to try
a server where friendly fire was on.
I had to try different servers until I found one.. it was late though only 4
people where on.
Maybe friendly fire on not so popular in CoD4 ? hmmm.

Read the manual. It specifically states it needs to travel a certain
distance to arm. Once it's travelled that distance it'll explode
regardless of what it hits. Whether the real 203 (?) operates in
this manner, I have no idea.

The bug was quite annoying yesterday.
I could have made many kills.

Later at 1:28 you can see it again in the kitchen, there you can see a nade
shell lieing on the floor un-exploded.
Even shooting it doesn't explode it.
At 2:25 you can see how I shoot a nade at two people the nade bounces of the
floor and flies passed them and doesn't kill them.
Thus I die because they can now shoot me.
At 2:58 I shoot a nade into the closest room, but no explosion, the nade
simply bounced of the floor.
At 3:04 I shoot a nade directly into an enemy's living body, again no
explosion but this does kill the enemy.
However the enemy next to him doesn't die and therefore can and does kill
me.
Had the nade exploded the other enemy would have been dead too ofcourse and
I would have lived.
At 3:27 I shoot nade into the ground again no explosion.
At 3:30 I shoot nade into wall again no explosion.
Some interesting side notes:
I play with a blue machine gun, that's kinda cool.
Also the golden gun looks extra nice because I turned on specular
highlighting normally I play without it because I thought it made the
soldiers look weird... which can also be seen in the video at 1:12 however I
like the golden gun effect so maybe I keep this effect ;)

I made another video where I repeatedly shoot nades bouncing of the floor
but it's probably a bit boring too watch.
The first video provided at the link above shows all problems with the

At what resolution do you play ?
Normally I play at 1920x1200 which is great. 16:10.

Why can't they just be dead as soon as I shoot them... so a long time ago I

It looks to much like a doll is falling to the ground or so... for some

It's also kinda distracting seeing dead people fall to the ground.

Again at 0:29 the nade bounces against the floor, bounces against the wall,
is very far away but still does not explode.
Showing an obvious defect in the nade !

Another stupidity in the game:
Can't select which nades you wanna use.
First of all the difference between FLASH and STUN is very minor.
Besides how would stun work in reality ? I never heard of such a thing but
ok.
It adds unnecessary confusion.
Second of all... can't bind 3 different names to 3 keys.
There are only 2 keys... so again here is key confusion.
STUPID.
ALso can't select 3 different granades.
If you choose the extra special granade perk your screwed to using the same
nades.
What a B.S. all together :)

Had little bit of fun with it.
I was behind tree strunk on new green level.
Actually that's an exploit I can crawl slightly into the tree strunk and
then see through it...
Near the tunnel... I placed some C4's there.
It was funny an enemy was on the top of the tunnel... but he didnt see me...
he was lieing there..
At this point I was not yet using the exploit... but still he didn't see
me...
I was just lieing there not moving at all... I knew if I moved I would
die... but he didnt see me I didn't move..
Finally he decided to go down the tunnel... this was after many of my own
team passed him and they didn't see him..
there was even a sniper of my team right next to him but the sniper didnt
see him at all but I saw him lol...
I was playing at super high graphics and the frame rate was only 16 fps but
beeeaautifull..
then finally he walked towards me.. and then I triggered it... boom he
died... pretty funny...
but it requires lots of patience loll but it was funny and definetly worth
it lol.
Ok now I am letting my pc cool down cause it got a bit hot... 50 degrees
etc.
Later I will play a little bit more with c4 at faster frame rates ;) normal
30 or 40 or so at still pretty much everything high except anti aliasing
off... and maybe shadows off or maybe specular off... I think I had that
off... but I am gonna leave it on... it's beautifull on.

I am very good with the grenade launcher mind you ;)
But it's not a perfect grenade launcher like BF2 ;) or any other game for
that matter.
Shame on the developers for comprising the game like that hehehehe.

Seriously, how many times do you have to hear that the nade from
a nade launcher has to travel a certain distance before it can arm
then explode before it sinks in?
You're shooting the thing into the floor, it hasn't had time to
arm, it will never explode, that's how the game is *designed* to
work. I also believe that's how an M203 works IRL. Get over it.

Console only display one line ?!?!?

You'll be staring at a blank/empty name and then you still don't know who
killed you pretty stupid.
Here is how it goes:
Step a. The wonder: "what the fuck ? I got killed ?"
Step b. The revelation: "Oh that's how I got killed !" (watching killcam)
Step c. The question marked: "Who the fuck killed me ?" The name fades away
at the last few seconds of the kill cam !!!
Step d. now you still don't know who killed you ?!?! unless you managed to
spot the name right before the killcam starts playing.
All in all pretty stupid ! Advice: show killer's name until the last second
! NO FADING !
Also the location is bad... bottom left corner would be better or simply
top.
Also "killed by" is unnecessary reading. You already know it's a killcam...
so only the name has to be displayed.
