Just ... press ... deleeeete .... NO! i can't either :) Unreal is still the best "WOW" I've ever had with a computergame. Everything that followed had to live up to that.

Maybe, just maybe, someone needs our help in here one of these days :) That's why I stick around anyway ...

Occasionally I run a dedicated co-op server for a weekend for my buddies. It takes less than 10 minutes for someone random to join. I've taken to posting the admin login in the welcome message and I have yet to have someone screw with things. On the contrary, I get people who still have the old admin keybinds set and near the spawns are piles of weapons they leave for joiners. You just gotta love that.
I suppose I'll hang on here till the lights go out. If this NG ever closes, I'll mirror it on my personal forums and carry on. I guess the nostalgia is just too strong.

Nostalgia is getting the best of me. I recently upgraded my old computer to a gaming rig with 64 bit Vista. I have procrastinate in installing UT99 (I like to refer to it as Classic...like Coke Classic..lol) as I have been gaming a lot with CoD4 and Crysis/Crysis Wars. Even with the new games and great looking graphics, there is just something about UT99 that has yet to be emulated. My heart of hearts wanted UT3 to be launch a new and exciting era, at least as far as UT goes, but it didn't appeal at all. I am disgusted, quite frankly, with the gothic style architecture as pervasive as it is. I liked how UT99 could have setttings just about everywhere, and believable at that (from Phobos Moon to Crane, for instance). It seemed so believable. I can only hope that the developers wake up and take notice at what is making CoD and Crysis so popular. Then UT can take it to the next level by allowing the settings to occur about anywhere. Well, that is enough rambling. I will install UT be the weekend and will be looking for populated servers. Look for TropicalDan.

Sorry for typos and my sloppy writing. It is late and I am beat. Anyway, does anyone know if UT will install and run well on Vista64? Thanks!

FWIW, I just re-installed UT(2003) and UT2004 on my Vista Ultimate 64.
They go pretty good ;-). Have to turn off the HUD bounce (view bob?) because the whole image just shudders when you run :-D
My ultimate plan: At auction, I bought 2 HP Proliant DL560 2U rack servers (4 x 2.5G HT XEONs + 4G RAM in each) installed with VMWare ESXi (free hypervisor). I plan to run maybe 4 - 6 dedicated server VMs on each (UT plus some other non-UT dedicated servers - any recommendations?).

Chris, thanks for the info about your UT03 and UT04 and how they are running with Vista64. I will see what happens with UT99, this weekend. Regarding your non-UT server, I supposed a dedicated server with the Xeon processor will run Crysis, so if that is the case, then I recommend the new Crysis Wars. It is a better game than the original Crysis multiplayer game. I think Call of Duty 4 may have reached it's peak, and I see plenty of servers that sit empty at times. Of course there are servers that are popular and always have people in them. Okay, maybe you can have a vote taken, but it may be a good idea to start a new thread, as "Test" in the subject line here probably is not doing your subject matter any favors.

I'll probably install that too this weekend ;-)
What I'm disappointed in though is DeusEx. For the life of me I can't get this to run. Haven't tried the original but the sequel is definitely giving me problems. Still searching the web for an informed forum.

Thanks, I'll check them out.

When it's the only active thread, does it really matter LOL!
