Hail all ,

I started a bard and duly received my instrument , however it doesn't state
tambourine : practice instrument or something similar as my mace does.

So how do I know it's a newbie instrument and it will stay with me when I
die , and if I buy another instrument will that stay with me as well ?

If I practice the skills peacemaking and provocation does that raise music
at the same time or do I have to use music on its own to raise it ?

At about what levels of peace and provoke should I start to wander the spawn
sites and venture into dungeons ? My skills at present are music 91.9 ,
peacemake 85.4 and provoke 70.9 and it's getting boring at Moonglow Zoo :)

If I'm in a sticky situation and use peacemake does it stop the battle long
enough for you to hide before monsters target you again ?

When using archery do you have to be still to fire at your target or will it
still be targeted even if you are running around ?

Thanks in advance for answers.

The instruments you start with are newbie items, and will stay with your
body. Any new instruments you purchase will not. If your skills are that
high you probably should have noticed that simply from using peacemake and
provoke that your mucisianship skills do go up. Focusing solely on
muscianship (ie macroing) will make it rise faster.

The adventuring question is purely your own decision. When I started a bard
during the summer I rarely set foot in town. I used him in dangerous spots
right from the beginning, not caring if I died because my only weapon was my
instrument (musical instrument, that is) and I could never lose it. I
started out by making grizzlies fight each other, then attacking one with my
newbie dagger while he was distracted. As he became more advanced I began
to spend almost all of my time in the forests near Shame. These areas are
super for bards because there are always tons of monsters waiting to be
befuddled by your songs. Shame itself is also a terrific place. The earth
elementals are numerous and it is a real white-knuckle challenge to survive
in there as an unarmored bard. You just gotta keep moving and make sure you
have easy to reach 1-button macros for peacemake, provoke, and hide.

With a peacemake of 85.4 (probably higher than mine) I'm surprised you
haven't used it enough to note its effects. In my experience peacemaking is
a great skill, but its usually does not grant you enough time to use another
skill. Most of the time by the time the monster has become angry again,
trying to hide results in the, "You must wait before using another skill"
message.

As for archery, I've had very limited experience as an archer, but I do
remember running around monsters and shooting.

Die, if it stays with you its newbie:) Only other way is to have someone try
to steal it and see what happens. if it isn't roll up a char with a newbie
instrument and exchange it. If you die if could be your only means of
getting your stuff back.

yes, but you should have known that while getting all those skills up to
your current levels. though you wont see much for increases with music in
that range without jamming on your instruemnt pretty heavily.

Stand still when you shoot and don't move until teh shot connects, if you
run right after the arrows leaves it will never hit.

You have to be careful. Try to always keep track of which is your
first instrument. The ones you buy will not stay with you when you
die. Here's a tip though: whenever you start a new char give him or
her 2 points of music skill and you will get the newbie instrument.

You have to work music on its own.

Sounds like you are ready to me. The only thing you will find at your
level of provoke is that, if you fail, the monster will attack you. I
*think* this stops somewhere in the 80s (it's been a while..)

Never tried, probably not with the skill delay. I usually just run :)

Sorry, I dont use archery so I have no idea.

Practice insrument is newbie item, i belive anything thats practice is
newbie and will stay with you
regular items wont stay with you.

you have to use the instrument to use music and no peacemaking will not
raise music

YES hve some fun, good places for provoking would be T2A the Terathan Keep
or the Ophidians there are plenty of places where the bastards cant get you
in those places.

NOPE run around but you might wanna invest in a horse if your gonna be
running around cause stamina is needed for an archer to fire even remotly
fast.

The 1st one will stay, any others will not.

>If I practice the skills peacemaking and provocation does that raise music

It can raise music, but playing on its own builds it faster.

The level you are currently at. =]

>If I'm in a sticky situation and use peacemake does it stop the battle long

Yes, provided you have good hiding and have a successful peacemaking (ALL
the things that are attacking you - can be quite hard in a dungeon)

>When using archery do you have to be still to fire at your target or will
it
>still be targeted even if you are running around ?

Once you have something targeted, it stays targeted as you move. The
exception to this is if you have something targeted and something else that
is attacking you moves closer. The target moves to the nearest opponent.
