Spellbooks were always unstealable.. post-UOR runebooks are
unstealable, unless in a bag.
Not sure about this empty thing though.. first I have heard of it
I know that bit...

As I said, the info came from rumour control, and not being a thief, I
haven't had chance to test it. Might be nice if someone somewhere could
though...
RtR
- Newbie & Practice Weapons
These items cannot be stolen, and will remain with your ghost when you
die IF you are NOT a Murderer. As with [Blessed] items, these can be
destroyed and take damage as normal.
- 0 Stone Items
Only a few things fall into this category (such as keyrings), but any
item that weighs 0 stones cannot be stolen randomly; it must be snooped
and then targeted with the Stealing skill directly. These items will not
stay with your ghost either, so care must be used when carrying them
around. Keep in mind that some items (like spellbooks) weigh 0 stones,
but still count as blessed.
- Normal Items
Everything else.
All items may be stolen, lost or looted if placed within a container in
your backpack, regardless of what it's status is. Stackable newbie items
will lose their newbie quality as soon as a non-newbie item is added to
the stack. Newbie items cannot be cut into other things either, which is
why the death robes you get after a ressurrection are not able to be
turned into bandages. I am not sure if [blessed] items can be destroyed
in this manner.. I don't want to risk it!
Clothing Bless Deeds allow the blessing of a single piece of footwear,
or an item made from cloth. These are typically used on colored sandals,
as a sort of status symbol.
Item Bless Deeds allow the blessing of ANY item, with the exception of
containers, including but not limited to backpacks, pouches, chests,
baskets, etc.
All freshly created characters begin with the following items:
* Shoes
* Dagger
* Candle
* Book
* 1000 GP (changed from 100 GP)
In addition, you will start with two of the appropriate articles of
clothing:
* Doublet
* Shirt
* Fancy Shirt
* Short Pants
* Long Pants
Lastly, you gain items according to the skills you have chosen. The
items that you can get in newbie form follow:
* Scissors
* Bandages
* Empty Bottles
* Spellbook
* Random selection of potions
* Random selection of reagents
* Random selection of First Circle scrolls
* Random tinkering component
* Random blacksmithing tool
* Random carpentry tool
* Sewing kit
* Robe
* Cloak
* Arrows
* Feathers
* Shafts
* Kindling
* Boards
* Half-Apron
* Bedroll
* Blank Map
* Sextant
* Raw Birds
* Flour Sack
* Water Pitcher
* Cloak
* Blank Scrolls
* Lockpicks
* Fishing Pole
* Floppy Hat
* Hatchet [practice weapon]
* Mace [practice weapon]
* Bow [practice weapon]
* Spear [practice weapon]
* Gnarled Staff [practice weapon]
* Shepard's Crook [practice weapon]
* Longsword [practice weapon]
* Skinning Knife [practice weapon]
* Leather Gloves
* Pickaxe
* Shovel
* Harp
* Lute
* Drum
* Tamborine
* Wooden Shield
* Bolt of Cloth
* Boots
Finally, new accounts will also get a "New Player Ticket" with each
character they make, as long as they remain [young]. This item is tied
to the character AND account, so you cannot transfer tickets to another
one of your characters and use it with them.

Obviously if I were to make a new character now, I wouldn't get a ticket
because my account isn't still [young].

Actually, starting with magery gives you 3 of each reagent.

I just created a new character on SP this morning, and didn't get a ticket.
I thought they had ended this when they ended [young]. --Or is it because I
was on SP?

Ahhh, is *that* the deal.
I say "random", because other skills that use reagents (like Alchemy)
will also give you an assortment of reagents. Thus, you might start with
6 or 9 reagents instead of 3 if you get the same type. :)

[young] characters aren't allowed on Siege at all. If you try to access
that shard while [young], you'll get a warning message stating it's for
advanced players only. Thus, you can't get a newbie ticket on Siege.

Ahh, good point.

Makes sense. :) Plus what the other poster said about young *accounts* vs
young *characters*.
Doesn't interest me enough to activate my second account quite yet, tho. :)
made a newbie account, got 4 tickets (lost one, stayed to long on the floor)
and got 4 pieces of ranger armor that is sold for about 65K, dident needed
the armor any way, a house was better, so now i have a small home (took me 4
fucking hours to find a home spot)...
So new accounts still get ranger armor.
