In the Legend Demo, after Lara's first rope swing, she enters
a cave. Press Delete to turn on her body-mounted LED light.
There are two puddles on the floor, then two stalagmites/
stalagtites on the right that go from the floor to ceiling.
Opposite those, on the left, higher up, there is an opening.
But when I get Lara to jump, it's a little too high for her
to grab.
Anyone have luck with that?
BTW, try shooting in the dark with the flashlight on.
Nice smoke effect from the guns.
Thanks, whoever it was (McG or DC?) for the info on
the Advanced Toggle setting for Combat Mode. This
is a little more like it.
Just ordered a Radeon 9600XT to replace my old GeForce2.
Hopefully, this will arrive soon, before my preordered
TR Legend arrives. Looks to me like the 9600XT is a decent
"bang for the buck", at just $77, and I don't feel like
I need to spend more for an X-800 or something like that.
(I didn't even look to see what nVidia has, since I've
been putting off getting a Radeon literally for *years*,
and just had to go that way.)
I'm already pretty happy with what I'm getting from the
GeForce2, so I suppose I'll be alright.

Yep - when you're on the rope, turn to the left and there's a huge open
entrance, like the one through the waterfall. Go around there and it takes
you to that part you can't jump up to. No secret though. At least not in the
demo. I suspect that it probably is one in the full game, though.
I found it on my first run through the demo, but then I did explore
everywhere, in my normal raiding fashion! I normally find at least half of
the secrets first time, as I'm too attentive to all the details :o (So I
normally miss the obvious stuff if anything!)

Well I know I mentioned it, but I think all info is being posted two or
three times in different threads as people find things out, so your guess is
as good as mine :)

I don't think you can go wrong. Enjoy the even prettier scenery when it
arrives! :)

Pfft! I've been on that rope so many times, I can't believe I didn't
see that! Must slow down and look around some more.

Actually, I got the Radeon hoping for 1600x1200 at 75 Hz, at least. All
the better to rush through levels with, missing important details. :-/

:D Well, in some of the old games I got stuck for hours or days on things I
couldn't believe I missed. But I never turned to a walkthrough! The dark
side are they...

Depends on processor, I think - mine wouldn't be good at that setting.
Still, it's better to use a lower resolution with the fullscreen
anti-aliasing turned on. Looks as good, runs much faster :)
As for the 75Hz... (bit of a digression here). The refresh rate doesn't
really affect anything. It's just the speed your monitor picture refreshes,
which is *not* the same as the game's frame rate. In Windows your monitor
will be doing 75 or 85Hz typically. If at 60, it'll appear flickery and hurt
your eyes.
Of course, if you run the game at 75Hz, it's not possible for you to see a
frame rate higher than 75 frames per second with the game (not that it'll be
that high most of the time). So it caps the frame rate, but it certainly
doesn't govern it. I use 85 when possible because it's simply easier on the
eyes :) Frame rate could be anywhere from 20 to 50, I expect.
Maybe you know all that, but in case there are any others out there who
don't, it can't hurt to say. Refresh rate is not the same as frame rate.
Refresh rate depends on your monitor and what it can do, not the speed of
your PC :)

Oh! Off to have a fiddle now...
Hmm...I'm thinking it's maybe a place you come out after finding a secret
elsewhere?

But I don't think config options are saved...frustratingly enough. Or, at
least, the remapping of the inventory keys didn't stay for me...

Oh I loved my 9600XT....
That's one to look at. IF it does then where does it save it?
McG.
I've remapped *all* the keys and they're there when I restart the demo.
The only thing I lose is the position in the game ... uh, demo. But
that they say will happen, ah well.
I'll check files and see if anything is there that is newer than the
game files. Maybe something is working on my machine that isn't
supposed to!

Heh...I'll have to have another look at it.
Actually, I think it was Mustang ... thanks!

My remapped keys also were back after restarting the demo.
Tara
there are several secrets in the demo areas in the real game (demo is
beginning of the first level), haven't seen in secrets in demo (yet) so
I guess they just left the out...
