that it has crashed and will now terminate. Homecrafter Plus will not open
at all, even after waiting long enough to take two dogs for a walk,
separately, make a pot of tea, roll a smoke for me, and one for my dad, feed
and refresh the water of 5 pets (each has own food and water dishes), pour
the tea, and smoke the cigarette and drink the tea. Is there a known issue
with Body Shop and/or Homecrafter? Am I the only one who cannot open these
programs? Any suggestions?

You need to use the right version of BS - you use the version for the latest
EP you have. If you have BV as your latest, you need the BV version of BS -
the shortcut is right next to the game shortcut in the start menu.
Homecrafter can be temperamental and the usual fix is to just uninstall and
reinstall. Doesn't take that long and saves trying to fiddle about with it.
Make sure though, that you don't have any corrupt custom content. I'd test
first by removing all downloads and trying to run the programmes. If they
run without problem, then the problem is in your Downloads folder.

Yes, there is a known issue with Homecrafter. It wouldn't open for me either
and then someone pointed me at a patch for it and that fixed it right up. I
can't remember where the patch was. Maybe try the official site? I'll check
my files. Since I rarely delete files that are fixes I probably have the
patch sitting around somewhere on the HDD.
Don't know about BS. Mine takes a while to open but it eventually does open.
Takes longer than the game.

Credit to Davybear for telling me about it in the first place :) Also, I
found I had to reboot after installing it because HC still would not work
even after updating. So install then reboot and HC should start working. I
hope :)

BS opens, then crashes about 5 minutes later. I uninstalled HC, rebooted,
re-installed, and after I double-clicked the desktop icon a dozen times, it
finally opened. By that time, I had fogotten how to darken grass, so I went
to mts2 to download some nice green grass. Haven't started up the game yet,
so I have no idea what it will look like in my game.
