Downloaded it last night to see how hard it was to create paintings for the
game. Maybe whip up some famous paintings to go in Sim houses. But with most of
the painting JPEG's I downloaded off of Gnutella, when I try to select them,
SAS hangs up and I have to leave the program. Any idea how I correct this?

Try converting the jpgs to bitmaps. SAS seems to have trouble using
jpgs sometimes...

Yes, definitely, convert .jpg files to 8-bit .bmp files. I've
had no luck at all with jpeg files.

I've also learned the hard way that it helps to stop and restart
the program between paintings. If I use Art Studio's button that
takes you back to the the start after saving a painting, it crashes.
It might work better under a later version of Windows; I'm running
Windows 95.

It does the same thing under ME. I've found that it will work with
jpegs, as long as the size is small. If it crashes on a jpeg, I'll
reduce the size and try again, until it works.

I haven't had any problems using JPG's in SAS it's possibly a little slow, but
it doesn't crash on me

But it does on some people.

Isn't there a patch to solve this problem? I don't remember where I saw this
patch, but I'll check my links and get back to you on that if you want.

It wasn't a patch, it was the latest version. The blurb said that it
solved "some, but not all" of the jpeg problems, and that some jpegs
still caused it to crash.
