(Newbie)Can HOUSE.IFF be made into FAR. Files?

Hello
I just started spending ALL my time with this darn game...LOL
I have SD-HP-HD-SV-SU running on an XP machine. I have converted all the IFF
files into FAR.I have not done the House one .Are there any problems with
doing so.?
Also last night I had a Clown show up and it took forever to get rid of him
.What or where did he come from?

All IFF files in the UserDataXX folder that you're currently using and
options.iff in the main UserData folder must be written to during the course
of the game. They can't be if they're in an FAR file. The game will
probably probably dump you to desktop at startup if you try to convert them.
My advise, just don't do it.

I'm sure it says this in the manual, but the Clown shows up when a Sim
is unhappy. I think there's a clown catcher download, and I think it
happens if you have the clown portrait on the walls

Yes. don't do it. If you do, it's asking for a crash. house##.iff is your
houses, and the IFF file is updated every time you save the game. Of
course, if you want to stop playing, put them into zip files instead -
you'll save more space.

The clown comes when your sims are unhappy. Burn the clown picture, or call
the clown catchers.
