Selling paintings

I decided to make a Sim who doesn't work and just paints for income. I
maxed out his creativity but his paintings only sell for $166. I thought if the
creativity was maxed they always sold for $500. Does this have something to do
with his personality traits or mood?

If you have LL, you can get more money from selling gnomes with the
workbench. Otherwise, get a regular job or if you're looking for free time
there's always Rosebud...

No, $166 is the max that paintings will sell for.

I like to combine the painter career with gnome-making. Have them make
gnomes until they need to improve Fun, then switch them to painting. Provide
them with a really comfortable bed to restore energy and comfort overnight,
and they can make a lot of money.

Interesting. I'd say you probably can't count on the monster's painting
prices for routine Sim income, though.
