New to group but have been lurking along and getting tips.

Someone mentioned selling the paintings on the walls. Did you know that you
can also sell the paintings that they paint on the easel! The most I've got
for one is $6 (simoleans) so far. Maybe they will get more as they get more
for the paintings as they get more creativity points.

That's the most I've had a sim make for selling a painting - the sim in
question is seriously pleased about it anyway, though . . . I've heard of
sims getting paid much larger amounts for selling their paintings, though,
and wonder if perhaps a sim might be able to give up work to become a
full-time artist.

I had an artist Sim once. She was getting about $150 per painting (she was
maxed out in creativity points). The problem with trying to stay home as an
artists (just as in real life) is that she had to do about 2 paintings a day to
keep up with expenses and she didn't have much time to socialize. If you want
to create an artist Sim I suggest you notch down that outgoing points to nil,
if not they will stand around crying and won't feel like painting.

Boris Murnau gets about $135 for the paintings he makes... some of my other
sims got from $5 to $40... maybe it depends on their creativity level I dunno.
Their dance is cute though. haha

I've got a family that gets about $141 or so. The Pleasants in my
neighborhood can't paint well though, I think every painting they've painted
got nil and they cried over the sale.

The Sims will paint on a painting as long as it has not been completed.

Not sure what you mean by motives.

I got one of the sims personality changer programs, and tested it on Bella
Goth. Upped her art points all the way,so now her paintings sell for 116 or
so. : P She's also learning mechanical skill so she can fix stuff, and they
have three kids. If I want to buy something they need,or remodel the house
so they can do stuff more easily and don't wanna wait for Morty to get home
I have her paint. : ) Oh,I just got a little purple specky violet and put it
on my desk. I feel like a sim. : P I need a name for it. (Yes,I want to name
a plant.) Oh,and I downloaded a house and the owner (With a really awful
last name.),who I was planning to kill, was a good painter and stuff. So I
let him live, dumped him into another house, and moved in two girl sims. Then
I made him (After he acted like a sim gal for a while, for some reason) marry
Psyche. So now Psyche and her sis are living in a rich house. : P At
least, last I remember... I forget what I did in that neighborhood.

I paint too (and understand both words), but motif is the word you're looking
for I think (in relation to paintings) ... motive is a reason for doing
something (and you're right, you spelled it correctly). Motif is a theme.

But, now I understand what you meant. Thanks.

***

<<>Not sure what you mean by motives.

Maybe it is spelled differently, but is an artist term. We would
properly call it a picture.

My translator (not hired from a titling firm) suggest it is called
motif theme. (but motive will be understood of all artist that makes
music or painting)

(And the spellchecker says it is ok)

I had Bella Goth get $71 for one painting!

I think I'll just have her stay home and paint all day.

Ah, you mean the "motif"! No it isn't the same; in my neighbourhood, the
Borgs and the Lakes paint abstracts, but the painting done at the Goth house
is of a woman with long dark hair.

All the Sims paint the same pictures. They seem to be generated randomly.
I've even had adults paint the kid's picture of a house. At the present
time in one neighborhood I have 7 families and ALL of them are painting the
same wedding portrait.

Stacy, go into "Build" mode and just pull it off the wall. It will show you
the sell-back value. If it didn't go up, don't sell it. If the price is
good sell it back by clicking on the bar just like you do any other item
you've purchased.

Actually, the max is about $166 per painting. I have a pair of Lesbian
artists, Juanita and Buffy Lonewolf, who routinely get that much in one of
my neighborhoods.

"Goth" is related to "Ghost"; it comes from "Gothic" . . . I think the word
in Swedish might be "Gaut".

If you make them mourn at all the tombstones the ghosts won't come. They come
to haunt because no one mourned them. i.e. they were forgotten. It's their
ghostly revenge ;o)

I am not sure but, I think even if one family member mourns all the tombstones,
others who didn't mourn can still be haunted. I'm not sure though.

Also someone said that the ghosts only haunt the first floor, so move all
bedrooms to the 2nd floor if you don't want them awakened by ghosts in the
night.

my understanding is that the poorer they are the more money they will
get for their paintings...the same is for the slot machine...you don't
win anything or much unless the sim is poor...they then win more?

They get more money for their self-made paintings if they have more
creativity points. The paintings on the wall can also increase in
valure. I don't think it has anything to do with the amount of mony they
have, at least I haven't noticed.
