Ok, awhile back when MvC2 came out I posted my usual "predictions" as I do with
every VS. game... you can check it in deja.com if ya want. Last time I
predicted that WM would dominate MvC and was laughed at... well, we know how
that prediction went down, but let's see how my predictions are this time
around:

These are directly quoted from deja.com

>>- The arcade and DC game with both have powerhouses. The arcade specific
powerhouses will be BB Hood. At home, we'll have Jill Valentine. Psylocke
will be a good. Juggernaut will be decent. Magneto will be good. <<

Ok, it turned out that the arcade and DC had the SAME selection.. but
regardless. BB Hood is an untapped potential so far, and it's unknown if she
is a powerhouse yet. However, give it time, I won't let this one die down yet,
heh. Jill sucks even if you make blatent use of filling up the screen with
shit.. Sabretooth does it better. Psylocke is pretty good, Juggernaut is above
decent actually, and Magneto is good. Not too shabby on my first here.

>>- DC Wolverine will be stronger and more abusable.<<

DC Wolverine translates to Bonerine. And generally, though I'm not sure of
this, the consensus is that Bonerine is better than Wolverine.. but they both
pretty much suck. So this one's sorta right. As a sidenote, I'd like to thank
the scrubs who still choose Wolvie and Spidey that attribute to many of our
winstreaks ;)

>>- Dr. Doom will be a major player. As will Guile, and Strider (once again).
Gief will remain the same in tiers...<<

Hell yes Dr. Doom is a major player... Guile is pretty good, and Strider (if
used with Doom) can be very nasty. Gief.. no way is he as good as he was in
MvC.. my bad!

>>- Cable will be up there. Maybe not top tier but something will be found
abusable by him.<<

Ho ho ho Ken, you sly devil... abusable is not the word. Three cheers for me
on this one!

>>- Megaman will be a hidden character.<<

Bingo.

>>- Ruby Heart will be decent, but NOT top tier. Same with Hayato. Ryu and
Akuma will be good, as well. Akuma will be better, however<<

These are all pretty much money. Akuma is better than Ryu (if in the hands of
a player who knows what they're doing with him), Ruby and Hayato are both
decent (Ruby moreso).

That sums up my predictions i made when MvC2 first landed on our shores... what
do you think?

First of all... your predictions are really nothing more than random
guesses, as you provide no reasoning whatsoever as to WHY these
characters will be good. If I remember correctly, your WM "prediction"
boiled down to "he has a really big combo" which is a very small
component of what makes him top tier. I hardly call that a prediction
worth anything. If you had even mentioned the word "duo" in your MVC1
"prediction" you'd have a valid claim, but please do not try to take
credit for an unfounded guess.

For the record, within the first two weeks of MVC2's release I predicted
that Doom, Jug, and Iceman would be top tier. I said Doom can throw
photons all day (which is still true against 75%+ of the cast), I said
headcrush is way too good (though I did not predict powerup glitch of
course) and I said Iceman takes no block damage (which didn't turn out
to be true). If Iceman took no block damage from Doom's
rocks/Strider's dogs & orbs/Spiral's knives, I think I would have been
correct on him being top tier. As it is, Doom is still top (no I don't
take credit for j.fierce), and Jug and Iceman are solid second tier.

How much time do you want? She's usable but not a powerhouse in any
sense of the word.

You provided no reasoning as to why these characters would be good.
Magneto's combos, his jab EM D., Psylocke's assist... what was your
basis? You provided none.

I guess you read what you want to read.

Guile is not a major player.

What a prediction. "Maybe not top tier but something will be found
abusable." Here's my prediction for SF4... Ryu will be in it, and he'll
have something REALLY GOOD, and Alex Valle will use him, and win a
tournament.

I'll be appearing in Vegas, October 16-21.

> >>- Megaman will be a hidden character.<<

Do you claim this as a "prediction?"

Ryu and

How do you define "good?" These are really very vague. You say Magneto
is "good" but Ryu is also "good," Psylocke is "good," and Guile is
"good." That's a pretty big range of "good." Then you say Hayato is
"decent." If by "decent," you mean "not Roll," then sure. He is not
competitive and I would not call him decent, I'd call him weak.

I don't have a problem with looking back and laughing at predictions,
we've all made some stupid ones... but to look back at INCREDIBLY VAGUE
predictions and then try to claim credit for them is really quite silly.
The fact that you even brought up MVC1 WM is rather laughable.

Absolutely horrible predictions, more like mindless ramblings than predictions.

Well, it's just a small little thing I do every VS. game, and it happened to be
pretty good this time. Of course, nothing really topped me getting flamed to
death for saying WM was great in MvC. :)

<snip>

>If MvC2 is like COTA, iceman takes block damage from everthing

Heh, nice one... I happened to agree. During the Iceman fad I said flat out
that Sentinel, among others, could beat him, and not until people really saw
some good Sentinels and better keepaway, did they agree. But don't get me
wrong, I think Iceman's still near the top. In fact, I think he's an awesome
character, and use him a lot.

>See, nice and specific. Foresight, not guesswork. I also immediatly pointed
>out the chipping power of Samurai/Doom (something some people *still* don't

Some of my stuff was guesswork, some not. Thanks for the insight though,
anymore in my predictions I'll be more specific. But nonetheless, for guesses,
aren't I *damn* lucky? Hehe.

Oh, by the way, everyone and their mother knows about Doom's chipping! Geez,
that's why they fly, airdash, and shoot photons all around. It's like 'spam'
in a FPS.. that's how most people play Doom (not the PC game, the character).
As for Silver Sam, you may be right, and shit, that may even be why the
Japanese rank him so high. More people oughta use Samurai...

>Then again, I also said that Blackheart was one of the worst in the game,
>just like I did when MSF came out.

Everyone thought BH sucked in MvC2 because he lost his medium attacks and
damage on supers was toned down... we were all down that path (mostly).

>If you forget about all the stuff you got wrong then you might look like a
>predictive genius, but in the end most people were about even.

Well, I think my guesses were pretty good, and more were true than not.. in
fact, only 1 or 2 were really off. Add that to my MvC predictions and I'd say
I'm doing ok for guesses, heh.

Hehe, he basically mapped the whole game out before playing it.. damn.

Well, to close this off, I just do those predictions for shits n' giggles..
don't take them seriously. I just find some shockingly close to reality, if
not reality itself, and it's cool to look back on them.

Later!

Oh. I'm sorry for posting something for fun, just to see how they measured up
to what's going on now in the MvC2 world. I didn't say "My Predictions are
Godly" or anything to that matter. If I wanted to hear an asshole speak, I'd
fart.

What's funnier is that this is coming from an AOLer who used to TYPE IN ALL
CAPS and attempt to 'punt' other people on Capcom message boards who didn't
agree with his opinions. How old are we again?

Note that I didn't say "Samurai and Doom" I said "Samurai/Doom" as in on the
same team. Call doom, throw two shuriken and maybe the super and watch how
much damage it does. Every time you call Doom you get a chance to get off
two shuriken, which is the highest block damage non-super move in the game.
Doom locking them down is what allows Samurai to get off the shuriken
safely; without the proper assist landing it a lot is much harder. And you
don't have to use any meter at all for this.

Are you accusing me of "punting"? I should sue you for defemation of character
but its a real hassle. How can you even act as if you know me! Dont make me
look bad to cover your flame worthy predictions.

Ya, you should sue me. Even if there's absolutely no grounds for it, because I
specifically remember these incidents under a former AOL SN. In fact, I won't
soon forget them... and I'll forever laugh at the AOL name RAZCAN. You have
truly done some of the lamest things I've ever seen from an AOLer, including
claiming to have a 'hacked' MvC at your local arcade.. remember that? Probably
forgot about it... heh, we regret things we do when we're not quite grown up
yet, huh? How old are you now, 15? I remember you being only 13 when this
came down...

That sounds pretty damn good.. I think I'll start using at my arcade and claim
it as my own strategy. :) j/k.

But in all honesty, has anyone playtested this strategy in good competition? I
imagine it'd be pretty effective, especially vs. certain characters...

Now I did expirement with punters on friends in 95 but never anyone I didnt
know, and the fact that you said I said I hacked MvC at the arcade really
pisses me off, first off why would anyone "hack" an arcade game 2nd off I never
said anything like that and I dont even have a routine arcade(here in Houston
there are about 12 I frequent). Dang your really pissing me off, I dont like to
carry personal things like these on public newsgroups but if you continue this
BS youll be getting plenty of E-Mail from me. I you want an apology for my
opinion on your predictions then okay Im sorry for voicing my opinion but you
resorting to blatant lies about me and hurting certain credibilites of mine
need to end here.
