Hey, Guys, as the topic states, Capcom would like your help.
We're going to be bringing out a Street Fighter game for the Sony
Play Station and the Sega Saturn based on the U.S. Street Fighter
Movie (y'know, the one with Jean-Claude). This game will be a
digitized fighter, featuring the actors from the movie. I'm sure
you've also heard about the coin-op game that we're bringing out
fairly soon as well. These two games are different - the Play
Station and Saturn games are not, in other words, coversions of
the coin-op. Since the coin-op game has already been entitled
"Street Fighter: The Movie," we want something else - something
with a different spark to it. Since most of you propellor-heads
are fairly creative, and are always telling Capcom what to do
anyways (A Capcom fighter with Ranma 1/2 characters and the
X-Men? Wouldn't Marvel love that), now's your chance to get in
on the creative process. Reply to this message with your ideas
for the Street Fighter digitized game, and your ideas will be
submitted to the Director Of Marketing here at Capcom USA. IF we
end up using your title, you will win not only recognition and
fame that you can hold over your friends, but a copy of the game
for either system as soon as it rolls of the presses! C'mon
Jenn, Tom, RpM, and the rest of ya. Make me proud!

PS - reply direct to me, not the newsgroups. Don't want to bog
down the system, and get people mad. I'll post Capcom's Top Ten,
as well as the winner's name next week!

I've seen screenshots of the PSX/Saturn game...they look IDENTICAL to
the SFTM arcade game I played at ACME. How and why are the home versions
different from the arcade game? You should explain this in detail to
me/the newsgroup, it would make it A LOT easier to come up with a name
suggestion.

>Since the coin-op game has already been entitled

Well, since it appears that the PSX and Saturn versions look almost
identical to the arcade game, why would you want a vastly different
name? I mean, both the SFTM arcade game and the Saturn/PSX versions (to
my knowledge) have the following characteristics:
*Digitized graphics featuring actors from the movie
*Moves which are based on SSF2T (including all the SUPER moves), plus
some brand new moves
Based on these two things, I can only assume that the Sat/PSX versions
are like the arcade game basically, but a few things are different (such
as game play, balance, maybe a few extra characters....) If this is the
case, I can only suggest:
Street Fighter: The Movie: Champion Edition,
Hyper Street Fighter: The Movie,
Street Fighter: The Movie: Deluxe,
Street Fighter: The Movie X2,
Super Street Fighter: The Movie 2 Turbo The New Challengers Really
Special Edition We're Serious This Time,
Street Fighter: The Movie: What To Play While Waiting For LEGENDS,
or something like that.
Again, if the home versions are almost the same as the arcade, I think
it's misleading to the consumer to completely rename the game. However,
if the two games are indeed *COMPLETELY* different from each other, than
it's appropriate. Again Chris, to get valid feeback, you need to
EXPLAIN THE DIFFERENCES BETWEEN THE ARCADE AND HOME GAMES in detail.

How about going for an even longer name than the one used for that 32X

Okay, my bid, my bid!

How about "Street Fighter: Real Fighters"
Or Street Fighter: Everybody's Kung Fu Fighting
Or Street Fighter: Return of the Late Raul Julia (bad taste I know)
Or Street Fighter III (Why not?)
Or Street Fighter: Living Legends (people might think this is
actually SF: Legends and buy it mistakenly)
Or Street Fighter: Bad Acting
Or Street Fighter: Look at Kylie Minogue's Digitized Butt!!!
Or Street Fighter: If You Buy This, We'll Make Number 3!!!
Or Street Fighter: C'mon Buy It, It Says Street Fighter, Don't It?
Or Street Fighter: It Cost More To Make This Game Than We Profited on
the Movie, So Help a Corporation Down On Its Luck.
Or That's enough for now!!!

Seriously, Consider the SF:Real Fighters, I really want to submit
that one. Plus, it fits, no?

Don't quote me on this but from what I understand there are 3 seperate teams
doing the programming for the different platforms. Working independantly.
They were each given the same digitized video and audio footage and a basic
set of "rules" to follow, IE: the game had to have a general SF feel to it and
had to have most of the old moves. But other than those "rules" they were
given a fair amount of leeway on what to do with the game.

Seemed odd to me that they would do this but this is how I understand that
it's being done.

I've seen the screenshots, too. I think only the backgrounds are different.
The gameplay should be different since I heard Capcom hired yet another
company to do the Playstation/Saturn version.

BTW, Matt, in Die Hard Game Fan, they had this nasty rumor that the
actor's faces were pasted on model/martial artists' bodies. I know for a
fact that this isn't so for the arcade version and the home version
appears to have the same sprites.

The original poster was soliciting help from the net, while describing
us with unflattering terms. I stated then imagined this guy walking
through life, insulting people while asking things of them, all the
while being confused as to why people wouldn't take him up on his
offers. I then described such a scenario.

Lighten up. Just because something doesn't have a smiley attached to

My question to you is, "Are you surfing for material that you find
personally offensive?" If you had read the original posting or knew who
Capcom was, you'd have understood what I was saying rather than being a
knee-jerk reactionary.

Well, if that is in the magazine (I'm not surprised), I can tell you the
rumor *did not* come from me. I don't know where it came from...but yes,
I heard the same thing you did, that those are the real actors from the
movie, face and all. At least according to Daryl Williams from
Incredible Technologies....
BTW, does everyone agree that it's hard to come up with a solid "name"
for the Saturn/Playstation game without a more thorough understanding of
what's in the game?

A guess: if this was done, maybe to allow for some in-house competition
to generate the best product possible. As a comparison, I've heard that
Nintendo of Japan often has several in-house teams compete with
different designs for the same product. The best design wins, the others
die. But this is a very infrequent practice to my understanding, I'm
surprised Capcom did this....Also, why not just make SFM the best game
it can be, and then clone it for home systems?? Personally, if I've
invested a lot of time in a coin-op, I like the home version to be very
similar so I can apply all the strategies I learned from the arcade.
Maybe an enhanced version is okay, but personally I don't like the sound
of a completely redesigned home version....
BTW, I played SFM at ACME and I was pleasantly surprised overall, I
thought the game felt solid. My one major complaint about it was the
lack of two-in-ones. As a very basic example, in any SF II game Ryu
could do a low Forward and then immediately go into a Fireball, which
would cut off the end of the animation of the low Forward. I couldn't
get any two-in-ones to work in SFM. Will there be two-in-ones in the
final version of SFM?
