How is one supposed to remove the restricted demo mode form Q3?? I tried
but kept getting an "invalid product id"...and i know it was entered
correctly. Has anyone gotten it to work?

I had to try it like 4 different times to get it to work. I then canged it
back of course because it's illegal. (:^)
put the file in place *then* change demoq3 to baseq3

I got the game to start, but I'm still getting the message "cheats are not
enabled on this server".....hmmmm. Any ideas?

That can't possibly have an effect.

I have been having the same problem on my system. I checked the
actually text in the executable file and the text that I was using in
the productid.txt file matched exactly.

I'm running this under Linux. Has anyone had success with it under
Linux?

What does the demo mode disable in any case? I was really just curious
what the normal mode was more than anything else.

Will quake3 have an actual _game_ or will it simply be deathmatch?

It enables you to use skins, maps, ect. that did not come with the demo.

How is deathmatch not an actual "_game_"?

OK. Thanks for the info.

It is a game, but for me it is lacking in many of the qualities that
make games interesting..

It is simply a shoot-em-up without any of the puzzle solving aspects of
the original Quake or Doom games.

There were _puzzles_ in the Doom and Quake games?!?!?!? If those were
puzzles, then NFL Blitz is a realistic sports simulation.

There was enough to maintain the interest of my wife and I for a while.
We play games on occassion for amusement. We don't make a life of it.
