Curious I read it is coming out sometime this year?

Any idea if a X-Box version would come out?

At this point it may not anymore. Nintendo may dump online
gaming altogether.

Should come out late this year or early next year.

It's coming out for Christsake. It is supposedly Sonic Teams main focus.
It will be out in Japan most likely around late summer time.

Not likely. =P I would figure that the GC version will be the "ultimate"
vision of what PSO would be. The Xbox version will likely be close to, if
not, the first in the next line of games. I.E., major reworking of the game
engine. Or just more of the same, who's to say. I highly doubt PSO XB will
be out until summer of next year because of the whole MS broadband strategy
or lack there of at the moment. Didn't Gates promise service within 6
months of launch in most big territories... clocks still ticking here.

He has a huge influence on the decisions Nintendo makes.

They said summer 2002. Last time I checked it isn't summer yet.
Plus there is no reason to rush online gameing, its not a big selling
point yet.

Yep, I frankly don't care what he has to say. I want to play with my friends
(not to say I don't have friends offline I do many. Just none I want to
really play PSO with they arent freaks like I am) RIKA FOREVER! WOOT!

No seriously though, I like the community of online games. It makes it much
more enjoyable then offline gaming could be. Much more frustrating with
hacking understably, but when it goes smooth its pretty rewarding. (The only
reason offline games IMO are so good is because they force you into a
certain direct, tell a tale. Well they dont tell it, you ARE the tale. Yet
still...)

They should wait for the announced Codebreaker to be released first.

Better the Xbox version than the Cube version. It seems Nintendo is dumping
online in Europe (excuse: broadband, lack of it). They suck.
Oh btw... the Xbox is out here... I'll probably check it out =)

But that mister has an important position in Nintendo, not just as a game
developer.

Yep. :) They should also make it more than just a port with 2 new lame
character classes.

That's true for now, but when Yamauchi (sp) actually steps down a board will
replace him. Not just one guy at the top like before. So the future is
wide open.

Sadly, he's really not a developer or a designer anymore. Instead his
talents are spread thin over all 1st party games in a producer capacity.

I have a GameCube but I have dim hopes for PSO2 on it.

It's Nintendo's usual stance. They weren't into CD games until pushed into it.
They'll get into online after Sony and Microsoft develop it on their machines
and make it a viable option.

All of this delay is actually good for me--instead of sitting back and waiting
for Nintendo's move, I'm investing in getting back online with my DC through a
BBA. I'm going to enjoy POS2 (hackers and all) while Sega figures out it's
path.

They never said never. They said for the foreseeable future. But in a few
months "they" will be a new set of people, so we'll have to see what the new
regime has to say.

Not with GC they won't - console won't support it. Maybe the next
console? Hey, somewhere I heard about an online Pokemon game...
questing, duelling... was that mentioned on this ng?.. hmmm, don't

Sega have got too much talent to fade away. They'll be back :) In
the mean time, there's plenty of other MMORPG fodder to look forward

Miyamoto is a workaholic, and very much still in design. He's both
lead designer and producer (similar to Peter Molyneux of Lionhead) on
many projects at once (which is insane) - a complete legend in the
industry for his workload. He's also a ninja at Super Metroid :)

Miyamoto didn't come up with Pokemon. There was something of a tale
about how Nintendo came across it, but I don't quite remember how that
went... I do remember that although it was similar to Digimon,
Digimon actually came *before* Pokemon in Japan - I thought it was a
Pokemon clone until I was corrected by a trade magasine... I think it
was in Develop (games industry mag published in the UK)

Officially, Miyamoto is the General Manager of the "entertainment
analysis and development division" as well as being a director for
Nintendo, soooo... he's involved with *every* GC game to one degree
or another.

On the designer side of him, he's currently the designer of Mario
Sunshine and The Legend Of Zelda, and there could be more - Nintendo
are planning to reveal some new projects at E3 this year, so we could
be seeing more of him yet ^_^

Nope, Pocket Monsters came before Digital Monsters in Japan. Monster Rancher
videogames were the very first.

I am expecting a new game... not new sequels, some of them really stupid
actually.

Well depending how you interpret Latin, that should have happened already.
Where's your Messiah now, m'yeah shee, m'yeah. =P

Whenever the new leadership takes control of Nintendo, we will know the new
direction at the next trade show there after, I guess.

From someone who's really into the Phantasy Star series, I'm a little
surprised to hear you complain about sequels... besides, Miyamoto
likes giving gamers a new experience each time. I like that -
familiar faces in a new type of adventure. It's one of those things;
sometimes it works and sometimes not... I'm not so sure about a cell
shaded Link, for instance... looks a bit pony to me :(

Actually it shouldn't have happened yet.

Considering how much stuff in the Bible contradicts itself, I'm surprised
people believe that it's meant to be taken as fact. A lot of it is
symbolism and metaphor and should be studied as a Latin scholar would, not
taught as the blind eyed English brainwashing that I've witnessed for so
long.

Ah, and yet another thread goes entirely off topic *cracks figures*.

Booya!!!

The game has a story line just like any RPG.

He doesn't with each new Mario game.

Many people say the game looks childish due to the cell-shading.
It won't make any difference to me... being Zelda for the NES (that one on a
golden cart) the only one :)
