I've been trying to create a custom portrait for my player character
using L-View pro but it keeps crashing the game every time I try to
save. I've been able to make successful portraits using adobe
photoshop, but, alas, my trial period has expired and I don't have
$170.00 to by the actual program. As I understand it, I need to save
the images in 24-bit, uncompressed format, but I can't find any way to
make sure that this is happening in L-View pro. Does anyone know
where these settings would be in this program? Or, do I need to use a
different image editing program and, if so, which one will work?

Thanks,
Dave

I can't help but I can add to the cry for help. I was making portraits
in corel photopaint and lview and windows paint and irfan view and all
of them bombed nwn when I had modified originals from the game. (that is
making new ones based on screen captures) when I built clean new ones
(that sucked) it worked fine.

Are you modifying screen shots of in-game portraits too?

Ulead Photoimpact is a good, inexpensive, fairly easy to use photo editor.
I think there's a trial version available, but don't know if it's
full-featured or not.

The full version will save in the format you need, I know; I've used it for
years.

Paintshop Pro is another highly recommended photo editor/paint program that
won't break your pocketbook, but I've only briefly used a trial version of
it.
