I cannot find information on how to solve this problem on the Atari Support
page, so I'm hoping to find some help here. Or at least a link to a page or
forum where I might find a solution.

I installed NWN2 a couple of hours ago for the first time and never played
NWN so my newbie status is "extreme". I installed and clicked on "update" to
start the patching process. Then I got this error message:

http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc79/EngramAu/NWN2/error.jpg

So I dutifully went to the Atari Support page, downloaded the fix and
followed instructions. I uninstalled the game, then reinstalled it. Then I
played for over 5 minutes (made a character, then played part of the
tutorial by trading the furs for a bow, having Amie compete in the Talent
quest and despelling the pig). I then saved and exited before running the
fix, then attempted to update again.

This time it updated past the last error point and instead gave me this:

http://i216.photobucket.com/albums/cc79/EngramAu/NWN2/Error_2.jpg

Basically, the updater ran into trouble in relation to yet another file.

Apart from following the instructions on the Support page, is there anything
else I can or need to do to get the Updater to work? And where can I go to
find help when it comes to technical issues like this?

Now that I think about it, one thing I did not do was to restart my PC
between uninstalling and reinstalling, so I shall do that next. I will also
start a new character from the beginning in case my current one is somehow
affected by the inability of the Updater to work. I just need to know where
I can go to find help for this sort of stuff, rather than bothering you guys
here.

I think you can download the patch and install manually. Sorry, I'm off to
work - if someone else doesn't post before I get back, I'll go and have a
look for it.

Best wishes

There was an error in the distribution disks for the Diamond edition.
You have to run the updater that is on the disk itself first and then
run the updater from the game load screen which goes out across the
web and picks it up. It is mentioned on one of the support web pages
but is not well cross-linked on the others and I forget how I got to
the page originally (googling Neverwinter Nights help got me there).

Hmm, there seems to be a cross-newsgroup stuff going on here.

Can't fix you rproblem but here are some sites with tech fiorums:

http://nwn.bioware.com/ This is the official site and has a large
technical forum arrached once you register and log in

Might want to check GameSpy/File Planet..they have a largish NWN
Community, too

Thanks for the replies, ladies!

While I have not fixed my Updater problem, I have possibly found a
solution - manual install of patches (thanks for the idea, Jen!). Which, for
those wanting to know, you can get here:

http://nwvault.ign.com/View.php?view=NWN2Articles.Detail&id=230

Now I'm just wondering if I need to download and install every single
(English) file on that page... I might wait for my offpeak internet hours to
start, then get downloading.

There should be one listed 'from-your-current-version' to
'the-latest-version'. I.E. You only need one patch.
