Funny how the newsgroups died. I always found them easier and more fun than
forums.
Oh well.

Yeah ... but you can't have censorship and banner ads and promo links
and all that other web forum dancing baloney on usenet.
Ten years ago all ISPs promoted their accounts that included usnet, now
it's hard to find a tech support person at an ISP who even knows what
usenet is.
I, personally, do not ever visit game web forums because of the
moderation, the advertising, and all the colourblind people who think
they need a large, animated avitar of a truck repeatedly rolling over a
penguin as part of their .sig when they add their insightful "rock on
duuudz" posts. 9_9
I think the traffic on this particular usenet group has faded because
Neverwinter Nights is now getting long in the tooth. Other groups I read
still have plenty of traffic.

Yeah. Many years ago I try to pull messages and the server thumbs
it's nose at me, demanding a userid/password. Since it wasn't
supposed to do that I called tech support. It takes something like an
hour and I'm bounced around between multiple 2nd and 3rd tier support
people to get the answer: They changed providers, here's the new URL.
Most of the people I talked to didn't have the foggiest notion of what
I was asking about, I think the only reason I got anywhere was that it
had been working up until that point, I did nothing but click the get
all new messages button.
Now, I can understand them not sending out a message about it as it
would confuse too many people but it shouldn't have taken more than 15
seconds with the first-level support person. They should have gotten
a notice about the change as every usenet user was going to hit the
same thing.
Sorry to see you go, Manky. You've been a guiding light in this forum.
As for myself, I'll stick around 'til the bitter end, whenever that is,
but I wish you the best! See you on the Neverwinter Nights 6 Forums!
;-)
All my best, buddy!
