LOVED that game. Drives more like a real car than any other car sim
ever. When I upgraded to XP on a new computer it would no longer
run. In the middle of a run/race/whatever it would suddenly freeze
with the last sound repeating in a staccatto fashion, and then would
die. I figure I had a devicedriver conflict of some kind but could
never get it to work. Put it away. Now I have Vista on a Core2Duo
machine and I would like to try it again. Has anybody tried it or
another game from that era on Vista and does it work?

As an aside, I have an older Logitech FF wheel. 4 years old or so.
Any idea if it would work?

Thanks!

I never tried PU on my Vista RC2 system & just went back to Win2k on
Sunday. If your Logi wheel is USB it should work. If it is a game-port
version then probably not. A game-port to USB adapter could be a fix
though.

Lockup with repeating sound loop is usually a video/audio conflict & can
be resolved with updated audio drivers - unless you have a sound blaster
card. They haven't been too good about providing updated drivers to
correct conflicts.

I have an old PC running WinME & NFS-PU. It's my reto gaming box. lol

It should run just fine (it does on my system). For NFS4 - High
Stakes, I have to disable hypertheading or dual core, but I
haven't had this problem with NFS5-PU.

I've been able to run NFS5-Porsche Unleashed on various sytems
with XP SP2, mostly using ATI video cards. There is a fuzzy
menu issue with many Nvidia video cards. In general there are more
game issues with Nvidia than ATI, so I use just ATI video cards
now.

Systems that I've used with NFS5, all using XP SP2:

Intel SE440BX2, 1GB ram, P4ghz cpu
Soundblaster Audigy
ATI 9800 Pro (AGP)

Intel D875BX, 2GB ram, P4EE 3.73ghz cpu
Soundblaster Audigy 2ZS (and Soundblaster X-FI)
ATI X850XTPE (AGP)

Intel D975BX, 2GB ram, Core Dual Extreme X6800 2.93ghz cpu
Soundblaster X-FI
ATI X1900XTX (PCI Express)

Yes, I had a nVidia card in my XP2 computer. Tried ATI cards, teo of
them, and both just would not work as advertised, so I went with
nVidia.

However, as I stated in my OP, I don't use XP2 anymore...I upgraded to
Vista. My question was will NFS-PU work in Vista?

i don't think anybody has upgraded to Vista

we are all waiting for you to try it and tell us.

imho: i see no reason to upgrade. All my games
run and run well under Xp media edition.
ATI cards all the way.
