Flew Anchorage, Alaska on up to Talkeena PATK. Just go a bit west of
Int'l airport in Anchorage and follow the Susitna River north 75 miles,
or use VOR 116.2 if you want to make it easy. However, R-36 does have a
bit of a obstacle damn near at the threshold of R-36. Also has a new
laser beacon! This is FSX with UTX Alaska, so don't know what default shows.

In default FSX it's a clear obstacle free approach to 36. Those old
hangars with the wooden beams that you can taxi into are there.
If you have visibility at a high setting, you get a great view of
Mt McKinley from that area.

I was in Talkeetna about a year ago, a bit earlier in the year. Mt.
McKinley (the highest peak in North America at 20,303 feet), is hardly ever
visible unless the weather is absolutely crystal clear. Anyone who can
afford it will either charter a small aircraft and be flown there to see it,
or start out from Talkeetna and hike there. Mt. McKinley is also called
Denali and there is a small airport near the base which is called Denali by
FSX. I found the best way to see the mountain is to either look at photos
the pros have taken or to fly over it using FSX which is quite good.
Actually going to Alaska to see that mountain is a waste of money...lots of
it...but otherwise, it's one of the most beautiful places on earth.
