For quite some time, I have been able to pan in the VC using the mouse
(touch pad on my laptop). It worked identically to the feature in FSX. I
even set the keyboard shortcut to Shift+O to lock it on like it is in FSX.

Yesterday, I discovered I had lost this feature. I checked the Activecamera
key settings and it is still set there, but I get no response. I have
searched Flightsim.com for an add-on I might have downloaded that added this
but found nothing except Active Camera.

Has anyone else added this feature to FS9 and if so what did you use to do
it. The VC is practically unusable without it, in my opinion.

Yes... it is ActiveCamera. (that was easy :- )

And, yes... sometimes it goes fluky and looses it settings.

I don't have the sim running so I can't tell you how I get it running
again, but there's an odd sequence of things. Obviously, check pan in
cockpit. Then check your keyboard assignments in ActiveCamera and look for
toggle on and off pan... my's set to F7 (default) and I believe the center
button of the mouse can toggle it too.

Also look into (and make a backup of) this file to see your key
assignments:
C:\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Flight Simulator 9\ActiveCamera2004.cfg

Oh, and they have a save settings options too... maybe you've saved a
working copy?

If you can't get it going, reply and I'll look at mine and try to remember
what causes this.

Thanks, Big D. I had the Toggle set to Shift +O (not zero) in the key
settings, but no joy. I went to the root FS9 directory and found an
(apparently) original activecamera.cfg which I had renamed
activecamera.cfg.bak that was dated 1/10/2008 and the currently active cfg
file. I renamed the currently active to xxx.cfg.bak, then restored the
original. I set Shift+O and it is working again.

New problem now. No "zoom with mouse wheel". There is an option on the
Active Camera menu and it has a check mark beside it, but still no zoom. I
forgot how much I use that feature until it is not available any longer.

I have checked my mouse settings in Control panel. I can still Scroll
documents and web pages, so the touch pad is still functioning, and it will
still roll the throttle when I start the Bell 412 helicopter in FS9.

Frustrated is USA.

I fixed the loss of zoom with mouse wheel problem I was experiencing. How,
you might ask?

Well, the operator of my computer had apparently placed a check mark in
FSUIPC to "use mouse wheel for trim".
This apparently defeated the use of the mouse wheel in other areas, since
every time I rolled the mouse wheel, trim is happening. Once unchecked, the
zoom with mouse wheel came back. Yipee!

Hi Danny,

Sounds like you need to give that operator of your computer a good
talking to, mate! :-))
