Just before touchdown from a flight Singapore (WSSS) to Auckland (NZAA)
one of my kittens seemed very interest at the noise the keyboard was
making so decided to join in, unfortunately touching the num lock key
and adjusting the rudder trim to the right without me noticing. On final
approach rwy 05 ILS a last wind check, 050 at 11 knots. As I touched
down (main wheels first of course) the aircraft veered sharply to the
right, at first I thought must of been a strong gust of XW but then
realizing the trim was set tomax right rudder after taking the first
high speed taxi way to the left. I can understand that the rudder trim
would influence movement once the front wheels have touched down but
what I noticed was as soon as the main gear touched without the front
wheels on the ground the aircraft veered. Now how can this be so if the
front wheels are the ones which control the left or right movement of
the aircraft in taxi? How realistic is that.
