The U.S. Postal Service is scrapping its 55-year-long program of
forwarding letters to Santa at the North Pole, AK to protect children
from pedophiles:

Apparently they rethought after all the publicity. I did learn yesterday
that USPS has closed one local satellite post office in my town. We had the
Main office and two outlying offices. To save $$$, the one on the south end
of town was closed. The one on the North end will remain open but will
change hours. Formerly opened at 8 a.m. Now will open at 10 a.m. No biggie
but the clerks are still required to show up at....8 a.m. Where is the
logic is saving $$ that way? Normally I would say the postal clerks get to
be on the job (notice I did not say work) two hours before being grumpy to
the first public customer, but the two female clerks in the North office are
fantastic ladies. Really human.

Was it something I missed on tv? where the minds of the masses
are played like a mighty Wurlitzer.. err or was it the media is played
like a mighty Wurlitzer? { scratch scratch } Anyway.. was this for
real or some kind of a mass psychology thing? i.e. reinforce the
sex offender issue? It also brings forward the Grinch character.
Let's see how prominent the Grinch is this year.
