This is the time of year when mama introduces them to solid food. "Dot"
brought 5 "kits" to the back door this morning and they were all pressing
their noses against the glass looking at the cat inside. They are totally
cute at this stage of life.... a bunch of little clowns.

Yeah, a house is a massive pain in the ass to maintain. If it weren't for
the backyard, it wouldn't be worth it.

I don't have any video of my kits but I found this video on YouTube which
will give you an idea of they're like at this age:

That is so wonderful. I will post some of our wildlife. To relate to the
the local animals as to pets is magic is IMHO

Be careful they don't bite you!
If you try to hand-feed, they could claw your finger badly like my
littl' gray friend did in Maryland. He drew blood and that was the
end of feeding the littl' buddies.

Can you claim them as dependents on your income tax?
Too much rabies in the local wildlife (SE Virginia) to safely allow any
food left outside that could attract raccoons or foxes. Better to let
them look for natural food sources that attract them to places like
wooded parks and the marshes adjacent to the numerous local waterways.
A local shopping center had a real problem for a while as a result of
someone putting out pet food for the sea gulls. The food was generating
quite a mess after it had spent a few hours inside the gulls. There were
similar problems a few years ago when some of the neighbors were feeding
some ferrel Muscovy ducks.

I hand feed them all the time... and yeah, they have sharp little claws..
and yeah, I've been scratched a couple of times.

Do it if you wish, but I won't be handing out peanuts to the little
critters any more. You know those squirrels can scamper up and
down a tree head-first both ways. Their claws are pretty sharp
and sturdy!!

Just make sure your pantlegs are taped shut<:-))
