There are two flying squadrons of them at our local Air National Guard base
which is attached to the local airport. I only live about 2 miles from our
airport (KBOI) and I love to watch them doing combat approaches and
touch-and-goes. In FS9 I have a virtual AI A-10 wing based at KBOI. These
Warthogs are painted and marked the same way as the real ones of the 124th
Wing of the Idaho Air National Guard. The AI aircraft in FS9 are programmed
to fly touch-and-goes, as well as fly to other airports. I have set up and
saved a flight where I can taxi out and join with a two-ship doing T&G's at
our airport. I fly this in my own FS9 A-10 Warthog, which I have re-painted
in the same colors and markings.

I live in Peoria AZ and F16's fly over all the time going and coming
from Luke AFB. I like to watch the A-10's at Davis-Monthan AFB when we
go down to Tucson once in a while.
Looks like we have a good shot at getting the new f-35's at Luke which
would be pretty cool too.

I had front row seats to watch French Mirages make gunnery range passes at
Holloman AFB.
It wasn't anything like I thought it would be.. but I won't spoil your

First they were dropping 33 pound bombs and then they did strafing
runs with the Gau8 Gatling Gun and then they shot rockets.
But I have to say the guns were my favorite because the A-10's were
the closest at that point.

There is/was an ANG wing at Barnes Field (KBAF) where every other year,
they would have an air show. The A-10s would fly by, dive slightly and
drop fake bombs (more like fire crackers) but never fire their 30 mm
`Avenger� Gatling Cannons, a fierce weapon, normally loaded with DU
rounds in combat.

It seems like public disinformation in a way. What is the ANG Warthog
mission? The A-10 is a tank buster. How is that the role of the U.S.
National Guard? Please clarify.

DM AFB, then went by USAF bus to Gila Bend. When we got to Gila Bend,
a couple of A-10s were making strafing runs. As I recall, the A-10
was brand new then, and didn't become operational until a year or two
later.
