OMG! The screenshots look awesome. Looks like I might have to purchase this
and get back into FSX!

Decisions, decisions???

Thanks for posting, Danny.

If you're faced with a forced landing, fly the thing as far into the crash
as possible.

That's no problem, Mike. Just use FSX for flying and that other thing
making your videos.<g>

Rats! I was kinda hoping they would make some stuff of Eastern Canada. I
would buy that in a heartbeat, although England sounds very interesting.
Gonna wait for a sale ....

lol

I would like to make all my videos in FSX, Sam. Unfortunately I find FSX so
slooooow; I'm always stopping an' starting because I only want/need clips of
about five second duration, and FSX takes ages to reload (flights) compared
to FS9.

I've just pre-ordered that England scenery Danny mentioned, if it's as good
as it looks, then I'll just have to make a video with it.

Be nice to your first officer, he may be your captain at your next airline.

Not so sure about this one. Sure, the screen shots like much, much more
plausible than the FSX defaults but it is pretty unusual to see UK
landscapes, from 2000 - c8000 with this degree of clarity - too humid
for much of the year and too much cloud. Looks good for aerial
sightseeing, though. Much of a performance hit?

Orbx does not do haze and clouds. they do terrain...clear, clean terrain. It
is up to you to set, with FSX weather, the visibility you wish to
replicate. You can make it look as damp and miserable as you like.

Hi MikeW,

It will be, mate - all their stuff is absolutely first class!

But then, what else would you expect from a bunch of Aussies?! :-))

Very cool and surprising. I've always loved that "Bullet" building in London and it looks like ORBX
has done a good job on it. Actually the stock FSX rendition of downtown London isn't too bad if I
remember correctly. I am surprised that the Orbx web page doesn't show any pictures of Heathrow.

I'd like to see Orbx do some Eastern US from New England down to Pennsylvania but if that even makes
it to their todo list it's probably the dead last item. Also, I'm wishing for So. Calif.

Thanks for posting.

I hope so, John. I have pre ordered it on DVD, but no news as yet, when it
will be dispatched.

I bought the MegaEarth scenery for Southern Salifornia and I'm somewhat
unimpressed . Compared to Orbx, the MegaEarth scenery is muddy-looking and
their opinion of the way cities look, is disappointing. Sure, they've
captured Los Angeles fairly well and anyone who has a map can find places of
interest, but you should be flying at at least 3,000 feet to enjoy it. Any
lower and it looks like you're flying over breakfast, and much higher just
shows nice clouds. I couldn't even find the 'HOLLLYWOOD' sign .

I made a mistake by being sucked in and buying MegaEarth's Central Arizona.
All I got was a great deal of detailed sand. When I bought it, I carelessly
thought the Grand Canyon was in central Arizona......silly me.

I bought their Southern Louisiana and left it on a whole 15 minutes
before removing it. Just like you said. At anything but 3k altitude it
looks awful. The default looks much better for the rest. And they don't give
you all that extra scenery at and around the airports the way ORBX does.
Even a lot of the little grass strips have planes and vehicles at them in
ORBX country. Almost all of my flying is done below 3k. When I'm flying in
the mountains I follow the river valleys from one place to the next. Much
more to look at from that viewpoint. To each his own, I guess.<g>

Wow Danny!
Thanks. I haven't flown my sim for about two years now, hence all my OT
contributions, but I will buy this England scenery and start all over
again...

So, I've now got this vision in my head of a Pommie who went out and
bought OrbX England scenery because it is so awsome, and then setting
some realistic weather in FSX, and going "that's better, now I can't
see the scenery." go figure...
