So anyways, have to catch a flight out of Nashville today , to Oklahoma
City, connecting through Dallas.
First thing, as I get very close to the airport, the police have all traffic
stopped. Turns out the President is landing in Nashville to give a speech
somewhere. I am at the front of the line, on the road, right across from the
National Guard facility. And up comes, Air Force One, taxiing to parking
right across the road from me.
The police get on the bullhorns, telling everyone to stay in their cars and
keep their doors shut. Man, that plane is huge!
So then, I watch Bush and his entourage getting off the plane. It is from a
bit of a distance, so can't really make out who is who.
After sitting there about 40 minutes, his motorcade comes out, and off they
go. Shortly after, we are turned loose.
So I get into the airport, get my baggage checked, to the gate, and the
flight is delayed by over an hour! Yikes, I have a connection to catch in
Dallas, going to be tight now.
Finally we board, over an hour past departure time, push back, and then sit
there. Pilot comes on and says, well, they just informed us we have to stay
put, the President is taking off. I look out my right side window, and then
there comes Air Force One, down the runway, taking off! Now that was kind of
cool actually...
Finally, we get clearance and get out of Nashville. Taxi to our gate in
Dallas, it is now 4:10 pm. My connecting flight there to Oklahoma City, was
scheduled for 4:15 departure, and on time. I got off the plane, and my plane
is in the very next gate beside me. They are paging my name as soon as I
step off. I wave, they said hurry, they are shutting the door, I run down
the jetway, and just get on the plane! Whew!!
But, here I sit in my hotel room in Oklahoma City, with NO luggage, augh!!
It obviously, did not make the quick last second connection. Hopefully will
be delivered to me here later tonight.
Man, man, what a day. But, I guess that is kind of a once in a lifetime
thing, getting to see Air Force One taxi to a stop, with the Pres and folks
getting off, then watching it take back off later in the afternoon...
Don
One thing comes to mind reading your story Don. If you're a President, you
never have to worry about airport delays.
TR
Lol, very true, but it sure causes havoc, for all the other travelers!!

Or connecting flights. Sure, he has to transfer from Marine One to Air
Force One, but you bet your booties that it's going to wait for him.

"Pinky, are you pondering what I'm pondering?"
"I think so, Brain, but just how will we get the weasel to hold still?"
I suspect his luggage is ALWAYS on time too!

Lol, very true, latest eta on the luggage is between 12:00 and 2:00 am...
hopefully :). Guess I am going to hit the hay with the faith that it will
get here.
Hey, I have spent the night on an airport floor before, one time, in
Houston, couple of years ago - hope I never have to do that again, that was
a horrible night.
I will keep an eye out for the E-3B's, thanks for the heads up!
Yes, Air Force One was truly amazing to see, even with all the grief, I am
glad I got to see it like that.
Don
I find checking in and running around stressful enough when flying let
alone have delays and connecting flights to worry about.
I hope to get to 'fly' Air Force One tonight as I have just purchased
PMDG 747-400X for FSX and downloaded a load of liveries including
AF1. Have it all installed last night and I'm doing a defrag at the
moment. Looking forward to it later
Ibby
U sure that was Air Force 1? You didn't actually see Geroge W. Could
have been a decoy. We know they exist...always one extra AF1 in the
sky : )
Now, wouldn't that piss you off if it was the decoy?? : ))

Lol, could be I guess, but that was one heck of a decoy convoy coming out of
there if it was :).
Don
Smile, Don.
Btw, I finally got my luggage, at 3:00 am this morning!
Don
Yay! Clean undies!
