To all Americans,

The Boston bombings, the massive factory/town explosion, a further
policeman killed in the hunt for the Boston perpetrators, the extensive
equipment/materials found with the fleeing Boston perpetrators which could
have caused massive further catastrophes, and now massive floods.........

Strewth, could things get any worse!??

I personally am thinking of you blokes, and wishing you all the moral
support I can, and I'm sure many, many blokes all around the world feel the
same way.

Chins up, fellas!!

You should change the subject to 'I'm thinking of you'.

Me, I'm thinking of the poor bastards that were killed or maimed by
fanaticism and stupidity.

The Waco ammonia plant had not had a safety inspection since 1985. That is
criminal.

But then industrial safety is one thing that appears to have slipped in the
US.

I was in Ardmore, Oklahoma in 1986, inspecting an oil refinery there. There
had been a major fire some years before at the base of the Cat Cracker. The
fire was so intense that it weakened the main supports of the reactor
vessels and the whole lot started to lean. Management's fix was to prop the
whole thing up by welding an RSJ to the upper reactor vessel with the other
end resting on the ground. That was the way the plant was running when we
were there.

I've worked in an ammonia/ammonium nitrate plant and I know how dangerous
they can be if not maintained properly. I just wonder what wasn't maintained
in Waco.

We are hearing that up to 90% of US citizens want the laws enacted. Allowing
for the unreliability of polls it would still seem that the majority of

No, I meant to sledge our resident yankophilic sycophant from Oz, but
thought the better of it, given the tragic situation, but once again I

I was reading a few mins ago there were FEMA trucks parked at the
Fairfield Inn in Waco before the incident. Apparently there was a drill
going on at North Hills Hospital during that time as well? A youtube
video said... well can't repeat it because you'll probably get upset.

With regards to Boston I have been thinking of just the poor families and
the Police
What a fantastic job the Police and experts have done in extracting the
required information, considering the size of the city, and coming up
trumps.
The explosion? Sad for families again. Once again we have to wait until the
inquiry results to establish if heads should roll

My immediate reaction was to draw a parallel to the Mexican gas explosion

Another major peev for me is how a local coal mine, now
de-commissioned, the owners long gone, yet the thing is still
poisoning the local stream to the point where no life exists in the
water at all. Who's going to pay for the clean-up? Why, the
taxpayer, of course. Had the cost of this part of the operations
been factored into the original business plan, the whole thing would
have been deemed uneconomical. Grrrrrrrrrrrr...

Polls, shmolls.. everything is cooked, spun and manipulated.

Totally agree with that. Reading books on mind control and especially
public mind control.. it's most effective when trauma is applied. Shock

well the good thing that the capitalists don't realize is as workers
wages become so squeezed they can barely afford to go to walmart for
necessities the luxury goods stop moving off the shelves which leaves
managers with lower orders to fulfill, constant downsizing until the
business goes bankrupt and they become unemployed, banks holding
mortgages and investment deals start to flounder too, the folk on the
bottom of the rung have been through it all before, they have nothing
much to lose while the ones at the top will be the ones suffering in
extreme panic mode as they have choked themselves by proxy and see
everything they have lost~ you'll have a nice rable gathering outside
the ivory towers starting bonfires, who do you think they are going to
throw into those fires for entertainment ?

On that youtube page is a video of the Pepcon explosion near Las Vegas.
Wouldn't you know it happened in the valley just below a tevee station
on the near-by hill. That's where the video was shot from. Not drawing
any conclusions, but these are the facts. What's more.. the plant was
located over-top of a gas pipeline.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5TJcBlC22iE

Reading in history of the US (not Time/Life Mag) the Std Oil Co was
known to use sabotage in dealing with its competitions. Same with the
lumber industry. There were cases where saw mills/lumber yards would
mysteriously burn down in the middle of the night. Suddenly 25 people
were without a job. This is a generation or two ago, mind you. Some of
these capitalists are ruthless, especially the big fish.

To agree with you.. I'm also thinking of the individuals who were maimed
and their life destroyed.

This is going on everywhere in the US because many companies, industries
and lobby groups basically pay congress or campaign contribute to either
look the other way or to pass legislation in their favor. Some companies
are granted blanket immunity from prosecution. As long as 100 years ago,
the largest corporations in the US had interlocking boards. It was all
one big conglomerate (using the term loosely.)

Ok.. so there are lots of polls taken. There was an article about that
some years ago. The gvmnt isn't as inept as it seems. They run comp
models and use polls as metrics. The polls provide important data.
HOWEVER.. the result are used selectively, and the sample groups
are/ can be chosen for a given result.

Not in the cultures your marvellous "greed is good" culture has
bulldozed into oblivion in the name of "civilisation" and "progress"

I am once again reminded of a saying attributed to the Cree:

"Only after the last tree has been cut down,
Only after the last river has been poisoned,
Only after the last fish has been caught,
Only then will you find that you cannot eat money."

I would add to that a more modern line:

"Only after the last field has been fracked,"

Yes, but you guys have this nasty habit of invading other countries
based on "reasons" generally found to be a pack of evil lies
masquerading as "faulty intelligence" once the truth comes out.

You then deny the victims of your aggression even the most basic human
rights.

You lecture the world about the "Rule of Law" and then break every
decent law there is in pursuing "America's interests".

You are a pack of mass murdering hypocrites dressed up as saviours of

I happen to agree completely with Williamson's assessment of Gifford's
display. I don't believe a highly traumatized, brain-damaged shooting
victim is qualified to insult the United States Congress. This goes for
Jim Brady, also. In fact, even the evil goddess Feinstein was so upset
by her exposure to the Harvey Milk shooting, that she completely forgot
the U.S. Bill of Rights prevents her from imposing her scared-sh*tless
will on the rest of the country.

I believe the victims of the Newtown massacre deserved a vote. It was
only right that they should get the attention they deserve. There has
been change as a result of the shooting. There will be more. There may
even be a better system for determining eligibility to handle firearms.
...but the vocal, unthinking, anti-gun liberals went balls-to-the-wall
on this one and they had to be knocked back. They were set to trample
all over the rights of legal-living citizens. Their own immoderate
bearing defeated them. Again.

Beg pardon???? We are always scrutinising American policy and measuring it's
influence on other countries as in our minds the USA is controllable.

TAKING A STAND: Former New Zealand Prime Minister David Lange:

The summer was over,'' Lange later noted of flying to Wellington, talking to
Cabinet, and refusing entry to New Zealand waters of the USS Buchanan - a US
ship with potential nuclear capability, seemingly sent to test the resolve
of New Zealand's anti-nuclear stance.

It may have soured our relationship with Washington and provided a dramatic
end but it certainly set Lange up as New Zealand's David versus America's
Goliath.

February 4, 1985 was the day the New Zealand Government backed overwhelming
public anti-nuclear sentiment and effectively became officially nuclear
free - even if legislation was still two years away.

''I felt so proud,'' long-standing anti-nuclear protester Barney Richards
said this week.

''We stood up against the most powerful nation in the world. And we had a
major victory.''

He remembers a reporter travelling all the way from Britain ''to see for
himself the little country that snubbed its nose to the world''.

''The Americans would say 'we are here to save you from the Communists' and
we would just burst out laughing,'' Mr Richards said

Though expected, February 4, 1985 prompted talk of being punished by the
Americans with the likes of trade sanctions.

America did sever all military and security ties - trade fears never came to
pass. In fact, New Zealand-US trade actually increased in the years after,

The US, sensitive to New Zealand concerns, sent the USS Buchanan - a ship
probably without nuclear weapons and not nuclear powered.

But its neither-confirm-nor-deny nuclear policy meant America could not
explicitly say the USS Buchanan was nuclear-free.

The stoush not only shored up Labour Party support for Lange but also
propelled him to the world stage.

The next month he was in the Oxford debating chamber famously arguing that
nuclear weapons were morally indefensible and uttering arguably the most
famous retort by a New Zealand politician: ''I can smell the uranium on your
breath as you lean forward.''

This is good. Lightweights are people with nothing more than a need to
hold the moral high ground. NZ stood their own ground, which is more
realistic and tougher.

As far as David & Goliath...well, the world would lose too many good
movies if New Zealand fell. We know it, and so do the communists. We
can hold our next nuclear war without you guys.

:-)

The point being made though is that it's not so much action taken but the
possibility that the sentiment could spread to other allies.
I think the States did well in balancing the situation which ensured they
still had plenty of allied ports to sail to.

Even small countries can have some bite.
